Our client, one of the largest financial services firms, is seeking a Business Analyst - Big Data

Location: Tampa, FL

Position Type: Contract

Job Summary: This is a Data Analyst role in a fast-paced technology delivery organization supporting AML Monitoring. This individual will analyse data requirements and define the data mappings and data transformation specifications as per business requirements. This individual will also work with data architects and contribute to data architecture and data modelling for the assigned projects. This individual will work with business analysts and business users to gather functional and data requirements and work with the development and architecture team throughout the life cycle to design the data mappings and data model meeting the business need.

Job Background/context:
  • 5 to 8 years of business and data analysis experience in building data warehouses and data solutions.
  • Prior work experience with designing data mappings and data transformation specifications.
  • Experience with data modelling using star schema, snowflake schema and or data vault modelling will be a plus.
  • Experience working with the end user in gathering the requirements and working with the development team throughout the life cycle of the project in meeting the business expectations.
  • Strong experience in writing SQL queries and data profiling is required.
  • Working experience and proficiency with Big Data echo system and technologies - Hive, Hue, Impala is required.
  • The current team structure is relatively flat which enables the organization to rapidly deploy the most suitable team to meet the specific client needs. This means that the successful candidates will need to be flexible, multi-tasking and able to excel in a constantly changing environment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform requirement analysis and define data mapping, data transformation and data quality specifications
  • Define and maintain data dictionaries, data quality rules.
  • Work with data architects to define data models
  • Perform data profiling and review data profiling results with project stakeholders and data architects.
  • Provide walkthroughs of data specifications to the development teams.
  • Perform defect analysis and support development teams in resolving defects/production issues.
  • Define data entitlement specifications and work with data architects to revise data models as needed
  • Compliance with the System Development Lifecycle and Information Security requirements.
  • Utilize advanced knowledge of system flow and develop standards for coding, testing, debugging, and implementation
  • Designed the Data Clean-up process to ensure smoot operations of the applications.
  • Contribute ideas to the evolution of the system data architecture
  • Contribute ideas to the refinement of the team development tools and processes
  • Ability to provide quick turnaround to software issues and management requests
  • Ability to assimilate key issues and concepts and come up to speed quickly

  • Data Architecture Design
