Stratacent is seeking a Unix Administrator who will provide Technical Solutions, Advanced Administration/Troubleshooting and operational excellence in a complex Unix environment comprised mostly of Virtual Servers.
Responsibilities:- Responsible for administering, configuring, solving problems and supporting Unix servers in production and non-production environments running Unix operating Systems namely Solaris and RedHat Linux.
- Writing and managing scripts and utilities to automate day-to-day systems administration and configuration management tasks.
- Protect production by exercising sound judgment and following operational practices and procedures.
- Assist with the monitoring performance analysis of existing applications and ensuring that the system is consistent with ongoing needs.
- Write technical documentation, operational procedures, systems documentation and Incident and problem communications and reporting.
- Quickly restore service during system outages, provide troubleshooting support to team members, perform proactive problem prevention, and advance technical details to technical lead and/or vendor support.
- Work on production-related issues. Providing resolutions to an extensive range of complicated problems. Solutions are innovative, thorough, and practicable.
- Identify, analyze, fix, and determine root cause, follow-up and coordinate changes to resolve complex problems involving hardware, software, networking and applications.
- Be part of the team for on-call rotation and weekend activities as required.
- Excellent knowledge and experience with the Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) operating system, system configuration, and administration.
- Strong UNIX scripting (Shell Scripting or Perl Scripting)
- Experience in writing and managing scripts and utilities to automate day-to-day systems administration and configuration management tasks.
- Extensive experience with automation.
- Communicates effectively with clients to identify needs and evaluate alternative technical solutions and strategies.
- Continually defines ways to increase customer satisfaction and deepen client relationships.
- Bachelor's degree in computer science or a related field is required.
