JOB SCOPE AND RESPONSIBILITIES The ideal candidate for this position solves complex IT problems and contributes to an interesting and challenging application that interacts with historical artifacts. The candidate must be flexible, able to work in a highly collaborative environment, prioritize across multiple competing tasks, work independently as a developer, and be able to complete tasks on time. Responsibilities of this role include, but are not limited to:
  • Front-end HTML5 /CSS 3 development
  • Build back-end RESTful APIs for display of content
  • Build ETL processes to ingest, transform and save content obtained from multiple data sources
  • Create public RESTful APIs.
  • Create microservices
  • Work on backend and frontend code
  • Participate in stand-ups, design/requirements meetings, code reviews, and internal technology sessions
  • Provide ideas for innovation in development, performance improvements, process improvement and testing
  • Work independently on development of code and creation of unit tests, using PyUnit
  • Work as part of a larger team developing within agile frameworks

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS
  • 5+ years of solid Python (Django) development experience
  • 5+ years of overall (OOP) programming experience
  • Experience developing in AWS, Terraform
  • DevOps experience using Jenkins
  • Understanding/experience with enterprise search engines like Solr and Elasticsearch
  • Experience with JSON-based APIs
  • Experience with Microservices
  • Experience with JavaScript and JQuery
  • Experience with reporting tools (Kibana and Tableau)
  • Excellent communication skills

ADDITIONAL DESIRED EXPERIENCE
  • Continuous integration tools like Jenkins
  • Experience with Jira and Git
  • Experience working in an AWS environment
  • DevOps experience with CI/CD pipelines

EDUCATION
  • Undergraduate Degree highly desired
  • Degree can be substituted with 4 years of relevant professional experience

OTHER REQUIREMENTS
  • Positions are remote with monthly meetings onsite in Washington, DC.

    • Candidates must reside in Virginia, DC, Maryland, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Georgia, or Texas.
