Our client is seeking a VP of Engineering to own the technology strategy and implementation of the updated SaaS platform, reporting to the CEO and based in their Orange County office.This is a direct hire opportunity offering a competitive base and bonus. There is no sponsorship or C2C arrangements possible for this opportunity.

Responsibilities of the VP of Engineering:The selected incumbent will pair their leadership and project management skills with knowledge of cloud infrastructure and software development to drive an organization dedicated to highly reliable, secure, scalable, and innovative solutions for clients. They will be passionate about unifying the company’s engineering capabilities in a coordinated way across the organization to achieve our mission of creating the industry’s best warehouse management software.In our fast-growth environment, the incumbent will remain the constant, setting the standards for Engineering organization, and ensuring delivery on a technology roadmap. To do this well, s/he will be required to manage multiple priorities across different horizons and ensure that the organization is executing with a high degree of predictability.
  • Lead software and platform engineering across frontend and backend engineering and development teams, working throughout the stack from web UI, to APIs, to end-to-end platform development
  • Drive new technologies, concepts, skills, and rapid implementation to build out the WMS for both agility and scale for enterprise level customers
  • Build processes to help scale product, platform and team for growth
  • Make technology decisions on behalf of the company, including managing a technology budget and making investments to align the company with their vision for its technological needs and to ensure alignment with its business goals
  • Introduce standards for high code quality and accountability of engineering team deliverables
  • Development of quarterly product roadmap in conjunction with Product Management & CEO; deliver on committed development
  • Communicate transparently and effectively with executive leadership team, partners and investors, sharing the technology strategy, and using stakeholders’ feedback to inform necessary improvements and adjustments to technology
  • Build a team of additional junior and senior engineers, acting as a mentor to team members lead our software development function.

REQUIREMENTS OF THE VP of ENGINEERING:
  • A demonstrated track record of engineering leadership across SaaS technology companies, startups, and successful platforms and achieving business goals through technology strategy
  • Experience at a high growth SaaS start-up as the technical lead or #2 as the company has scaled from early stage to $10mm+ ARR
  • The ability to see the “big picture” and assume ownership over the technology roadmap
  • Strong technical knowledge of cloud-based infrastructure (AWS) and hands-on experience
  • DevOps experience with high availability and highly scalable distributed infrastructure
  • Good communication skills and strong driving force. With this ability, team members can accept their ideas, and the successful collaboration of the team is the basic guarantee for the success of the software
  • Experience in WMS or Logistics/Supply Chain software a plus, but not required
  • A Bachelor’s degree in computer science or another technical field
  • 7+ years of experience in managing and leading software teams on a cloud SaaS product
  • 7+ years’ experience with our tech stack:
    • Rest API calls with JSON developed in Java
    • Web UI developed in Angular 9+
    • application developed in Python
    • PostgreSQL database
