Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the design of new or existing opto-mechanical, laser components and/or precision devices while ensuring that all design requirements are met.
  • Study specifications, engineering blueprints, tool orders, and shop data and confer with engineering and shop personnel to resolve design problems related to material characteristics, dimensional tolerances, service requirements, manufacturing procedures, and cost.
  • Interface between external vendors and core team.
  • Expected to write reports, work instructions, test methods and procedures.
  • Responsible for performing design reviews.
  • Responsible for the purchase or design of equipment.
  • Expected to integrate and build engineering subsystems in the lab.
Qualifications Education:
  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical or Biomedical Engineering with a minimum of 5 years of experience, or a Master’s degree in Mechanical or Biomedical Engineering with minimum of 4 years of experience is required
Required Skills & Experience:
  • Significant experience with Solidworks.
  • Must be able to design parts, integrate them into assemblies, make drawings and work with machine shops to make robust devices rapidly.
  • Must possess strong communication skills, written and verbal
  • Must be able to work with people of various education levels and areas of expertise.
  • Ability to solve complex problems
  • Ability to be a technical leader on multi-functional teams
Preferred Skills & Experience:
  • Medical Device experience
  • Knowledge and experience in product development processes
  • Experience with statistical analysis and design of experiments (DOE)
  • In-depth knowledge of materials used in design of medical devices
