The
Dam Safety Initiatives Program Manager position will be responsible for comprehensive development and direction of critical activities related to the planning, design, and construction activities related to Metropolitans Dam Safety Initiatives Program. The position will work in concert with Metropolitans Safety of Dams team to ensure dam and reservoir infrastructure reliability and compliance with directives from the California Division of Safety of Dams. Areas of responsibility include providing programmatic leadership and industry expertise on this highly important program related to dam maintenance and safety, assessing technical challenges and opportunities within a broad collaborative internal and external framework; overseeing all aspects of program initiation and planning; design; budgeting and scheduling; strategically coordinating with various external agencies, elected officials, surrounding communities, the Board, media and regulators; environmental planning; permitting; and strategically integrating this special initiative or program within Metropolitans long-term system reliability program as well as the Capital Investment Plan structure.The Dam Safety Initiatives Program Manager will have expert experience in inspection, condition assessment, and forensic evaluation of dams. They will have expert experience in strategizing, planning, implementing and managing major infrastructure rehabilitation programs. In addition, this position will have up-to-date knowledge of current dam safety guidelines and regulations, state-of-the-art dam analyses (e.g., seepage, slope stability, seismic deformation, etc.), state-of-the-practice dam design criteria and principles, and geotechnical field investigations including non-invasive and invasive field exploration and laboratory testing methods. The successful candidate will have demonstrated experience in the contact and coordination with State of California regulatory agencies (Division of Safety of Dams and Office of Emergency Services) and local agencies within dam inundation boundaries. The successful candidate will have demonstrated leadership in the introduction of new organizational policies, elements, and procedures pertaining to Dam Safety. They will initiate best practices and put into place new comprehensive dam safety policies that fully embrace a risk-informed approach.Work Schedule: 9/80 Monday through Friday with alternating Fridays off This job announcement has been designed to indicate the general nature and level of work being performed by employees in this classification / job.To view the full job description click here: Dam Safety Initiatives Program ManagerEMPLOYMENT STANDARDS MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONSEducation and Experience:Bachelors degree in engineering from an accredited college or university and twelve years of increasingly responsible relevant experience, of which four years must have been in a supervisory, project management, or lead position; or an advanced degree in engineering from an accredited college or university and ten years of increasingly responsible relevant experience, of which four years must have been in a supervisory, project management, or lead position.Relevant Experience is defined as: inspecting and assessing dams, with responsibility for major infrastructure rehabilitation programs, and coordinating with regulatory agencies, while working within dam safety guidelines and regulations.CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES, AND REGISTRATION REQUIREMENTSLicense(s):- Valid California Class C Drivers License or equivalent (required at time of application) that allows you to drive during your employment.
