This position is located in Pleasanton, California.Position Purpose The Albertsons Companies Technology & Engineering group is utilizing the latest in technologies to build market-leading, high scale & performance solutions for mobile eCommerce, Loyalty and Rewards programs. We are seeking an Accessibility Engineer who thrives in a distributed systems landscape, and desires to contribute in a fast-paced environment. This position is responsible for developing and maintaining the accessibility automation framework, work with biz and product owners to help design the right accessibility standards. You will work as a part of an exciting and energetic team of professionals to deliver robust solutions using a wide array of technologies.Key Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Passion for digital accessibility and inclusive design, with a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience.
- Extensive experience of independent WCAG auditing on web and native mobile platforms
- Clearly summarize accessibility findings and provide recommendations for remediation, including code-level recommendations and solutions.
- Responsible for creating and applying business and technical knowledge to ensure adherence to Web Accessibility Standards (WCAG 2.0/2.1) and high-quality recommendations are made for business and enterprise software solutions.
- Develop, coordinate and implement services, programs and activities in coordination with various stakeholders to support firm accessibility initiatives.
- Lead the evaluation, selection, and onboarding of vendor products for accessibility and contribute to information technology procurement processes.
- Develop digital accessibility training materials, and lead and conduct training sessions and shape guidance with development, design, and/or content creators detailing the importance of web accessibility and how it intersects with their work through coaching, leadership, and knowledge sharing.
- Work closely with firm leadership and accessibility advocates to support firm-wide accessibility initiatives and to define and maintain current roadmap, vision and strategy for digital accessibility within the firm.
- Utilize and interpret internal and external research to make credible recommendations for individual assistive technology needs of firm employees.
- Serve as an effective spokesperson for digital accessibility.
- Establish and maintain effective relationships across departments, business areas, and vendors.
- Development engagements can last from several months to multiple years in duration.Own self-development, staying current with digital accessibility techniques and tools, and demonstrate out-of-the-box thinking.
- 5+ years of experience developing, designing, testing, mobile and responsive web applications with web technologies (HTML, CSS, JavaScript, jQuery, NodeJS).
- 5+ years of experience assessing digital materials (Interfaces, PDFs, etc.) that adhere to accessibility standards (WCAG, WAI-ARIA).
- Familiar with angular and react frameworks.
- Expert with accessibility standards and guidelines (WCAG, WAI-AIRA).
- Expert with multiple accessibility and assistive technology testing tools such as JAWS, NVDA, Voiceover, Talkback, Fusion etc.
- 5+ years of experience conducting system analysis; planning, designing, analyzing, testing, and implementing accessibility solutions.
- Experience with working collaboratively with product teams to develop, maintain, and implement applications, regarding digital accessibility technologies, policies, standards, and best practices.
- 5+ years of experience documenting test plans, expected test results, actual test results, identified issues, and steps to replicate accessibility findings.
- IAAP Certified Web Accessibility Specialist (WAS) or Certified Professional in Accessibility Core Competencies (CPACC) is preferred.
- Ability to understand and explain technical issues and their implications for projects and business decisions, facilitate discussion and resolution of problems, and mentor other IS associates.
- Experience with Agile/Scrum methodologies.
- Good knowledge on Continuous Integration / Continuous Deployment methodologies and respective tools.
- Strong interpersonal and communication (written and verbal) skills, and the ability to present ideas, thoughts, arguments, and information clearly.
- Expert in facilitating remediation of accessibility issues with little guidance.
