Description Hybrid Data Analyst needed in Central NJ ! A data analyst is needed to get the project started. There are three key tasks they need to accomplish 1. Load, clean and report on Master data - employees, rep ids, locations, location assignments, security roles. This is very standard and highly structured. Easy to train someone on this. 2. Turn on third party data feeds - start receiving feeds from Pershing, DST, DAZL, DTCC etc. Check the data and resolve the exceptions - e.g. missing products, accounts with no owners, registration parsing mistakes, undefined rep ids/location codes. This is a semi structured task because although the data feeds are standard, the data exceptions are not standard. Also, there will be data enhancement requests to fix and add new record types, or new properties from the file feeds we already process. Microsoft Excel and SQL skills are highly relevant as we are comparing large data sets and working with pivot table and vlookup functions to understand where we have exceptions. The ability to read and interpret file layouts and communicate with clients and data feed sources (e.g. Pershing) to resolve questions on the actual data that is flowing form the data feed source is important here. 3. Loading history data - usually trades and account information. This relatively unstructured as the types and quality of the history data being loaded from a legacy system really varies - and it is usually rather terrible. Strong Microsoft Excel and SQL skill are again needed to analyze the incoming data sets and the ability to write tickets and work collaboratively with our data developers (Rustam) are important. Skills needed: 1. Data management skills - excel and sql 2. Organization skills - the ability to track a lot of small issues that will come up on the weekly calls, prioritize them, and make sure they are moving smoothly toward resolution. 3. Financial data model familiarity - know contacts, accounts, positions, transactions etc. 4. People skills - communicate effectively with client analysts, other team members (e.g. compliance person - Hill) and offshore developers. 5. Intangible - calm and graceful under pressure - we have a lot of clients in implementation and it gets to be a pressure cooker at times. Also, the ability to learn quickly is a huge plus.
