Business Intelligence Engineer

Sr. Business Intelligence EngineerMust be local to Los Angeles or Seattle The Sr. BI Analyst and Data Modeler will be responsible for developing, designing, documenting, managing, and disseminating end-to-end conceptual, logical, and physical data models across both MicroStrategy/BusinessObjects reporting tools and Oracle/Snowflake databases. They must be familiar with data warehouse architectures, ETL principles, BI semantic modeling, and BI report development. They should also have strong experience in data modeling, SQL, data analysis, diagnostics, and trouble shooting This candidate will: Help develop and manage end-to-end data models across both BI analytics and data platforms Translate BI business requirements into conceptual and physical data models Partner with Engineering, QA, and Product to answer questions related to data lineage, business logic, and data transformations associate with our BI reporting platforms Design efficient, flexible and scalable data models to help facilitate business needs for operational and analytical reporting, using normalized and dimensional model designs. Analyze source databases to identify relationships, structure, and integration points. Design Source to Target Data mapping and transformations. Work with Embarcadero ER/Studio or a comparable data modeling tool. Help develop our data catalog capabilities and embrace data stewardship and data management best practices Assist QA with trouble shooting and diagnostics of data inconsistencies across the entire BI data and reporting platform Have experience partnering with Data Platform, and Analytics Engineering to discover, analyze, document, and design information solutions and data lineage Have a deep understanding of SQL, rational databases, and normalization to support data development in Oracle and Snowflake data systems Effectively communicate and interact with business and technical stakeholders to answer questions related to the data model and other related technical problems Ensure compliance with company data and software policies and procedures Ability to explain concepts and issues in non-technical terminology. Excellent attention to detail and strong problem solving and critical thinking. Must be able to work independently and in a collaborative team environment. Work under minimal supervision and with a wide latitude for independent judgment Efficiently manage time and set priorities for multiple deadline, in addition to ad hoc requests. Bachelors in Computer Science or similar is preferred. Minimum 7 years of working experience in BI, data warehouse, ETL, and BI data analysis Experience with data warehouse development and ETL data flows Experience with report development and semantic architecture in BI tools such as MicroStrategy, Tableau, BusinessObjects Experience with data modeling tools such as ERStudio or Erwin Expert knowledge of data systems and SQL Ability to translate and reverse engineer data models Experienced with Excel and data manipulation Knowledge of ETL systems and data pipeline. Excellent communication skills with an ability to interact with all levels of end users and technical resources Creative thinker and motivated self-starter Key responsibility of role: Provide analysis-developing new reports and the team has all new users. All users are coming on to a new platform.
