STEAM Program Leader
Love working with kids and looking for an alternative educational setting? Want to work with kids in an open structured, child directed, project based, hands on, fun environment?
Camp Wild Heart and Thrive are looking for a caring, organized and energetic individual to find and develop hands on STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Math)projects, lead activities with elementary age kids and teach fellow staff how to lead activities.

Someone who enjoys working with middle schoolers and teens is especially preferred. There will be opportunities to work with 4 to 17 year old olds providing homeschool, after school and summer day camp programs.
This is a three quarter-time position (25 to 35 hours per week). Position could be combined with an instructor position for more weekly hours. Position is to start September 2021. Applicants should be available to work Monday thru Friday from 8:45am to 5:45pm. We may accept part time availability. This is a year round position (47 weeks per year with time off at holidays) .

RESPONSIBILITIES
Training and oversight of up to 20 staff
Research and development of STEAM curriculum and activities
Leading classes and activities for all ages but mostly with 6 to 16 year olds
Development of additional classes and programs
Program evaluation and restructuring as needed
Meet with parents and families to answers questions and share information
Monitor the parking lot, playground and facility
Ensure safety of all students and families
Follow safety procedures and suggest changes when necessary
Guide an environment and expectations that strike a balance of both risk-taking as well as physical and emotional safety
Provide guidance and monitoring of participants
Monitor daily attendance and know where participants are at all times
Guide children through academic, enrichment and social learning
Organize classrooms and projects in a way that facilitate self direction
Allow children the freedom and opportunities to develop their passions
Instructing classes in the themes of your choice (anything from sewing to science to painting to electronics)
Create a relationship with each family and participant so that you can greet them each morning and connect them at the end of the day
ABILITIES
Ability to oversee, create and develop programs and activities
Experience working with school age kids
Experience working with middle schoolers and teens a plus
Ability to work respectfully with students and provide loving boundaries
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to communicate well with both students and parents
Ability to remember names and details to form strong bonds with students and families
Ability to work independently, address needs as they arise, take initiative in creating and implementing solutions
Organizational skills for materials and student scheduling
QUALIFICATIONS: Experience developing and overseeing programs with school aged children and their families is preferred. Preferences will be given to candidates with advanced education, ECE units, program coordination, experience with alternative education specifically homeschooling, Self-Directed Education and/or Waldorf or Montessori. Above all, you must highly value facilitating learning with children through respect and connection.
CPR/First Aide training must be current and in place before your first day of work. Must pass a fingerprint clearance.

Compensation: $18 to $23 per hour, possibility for high range with additional job roles and qualifications.
