Groundskeeping Lead

A hands-on position that performs and guides efforts related to maintaining a healthy and attractive landscape that enhances the beauty of our community as well as encourages outdoor activities for residents. Plan, monitor and guide the designated contractors with the implementation of turf, flower, shrub, and tree maintenance throughout the campus. Interact with residents daily to provide guidance and service for areas around cottages and ground level apartments. Provide input on all landscape designs.

Responsibilities:

Coordinate the daily policing of grounds to ensure a clutter free campus; this will include removal of trash and sticks that have blown around campus.

Daily monitoring of plant material and irrigation systems.

Plan, install, and maintain annual and perennial beds, grass, shrubbery and trees.

Provide systematic plans that will address planting schedules, watering schedules and location focus as needed to grounds manager and contractor(s).

Key member and participant for inclement weather preparation and response.

Works closely with Facility Management and Resident Landscape sub-committee on research and implementation of approved resident projects.

Qualifications:

Work closely with landscaping contractor(s), monitoring their productivity and accuracy of designated tasks.

Note and report to supervisor any behavior of residents that may indicate a medical or cognitive function concern.

Communication skills require the ability to provide or obtain basic types of factual information or explanations.

Must be computer knowledgeable

Strong time management skills and the ability to prioritize projects.

Ability to work with minimal supervision and to demonstrate support of the goals of the department.

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.

Requirements:

High School Diploma or equivalent required.

At least 4 years of experience working as a landscaper.

Valid driver’s license required.

Must have or pursue Master Gardener Certificate.
