Shifts: Primarily Monday through Friday, plus availability for weekend on-call coverage, evenings and weather-related emergencies as needed.

Experience: High school diploma or equivalent. One or more years experience providing facility and equipment maintenance and repair in a health care setting.

Wage: Depending on experience.

Duties of a facilities maintenance worker in Lynden, Washington

In this role, you’ll help to maintain a safe and clean environment for individuals who receive health care services at Christian Health Care Center. You’ll be an important member of the environmental services team; people will be counting on you, so reliable attendance is critical.

Duties include:

Document maintenance activities in the TELS building management software system.

Maintenance and primary care of facility floors, including stripping, waxing and buffing.

Restoration of resident rooms (move items out, change curtains, touch up paint and put things back together).

Complete and process work order requests.

In-house facilities maintenance and repair, such as door and hardware repair and installation, changes light bulbs, minor plumbing jobs, etc.

Maintain and repair equipment and call light system.

Assists in monitoring and tracking inventory levels; keeps supplies organized.

Serves as backup for groundskeeping duties as needed.

Assists housekeeping and laundry functions as needed.

Other duties as assigned.

Physical requirements

Must be able to:

Lift, carry and maneuver equipment typically weighing 50 pounds or less.

Perform routine maintenance tasks; ability to maneuver arms and hands for operating various equipment.

Move throughout the facility, stand for long periods of time, stoop, kneel and bend.

Focus on various forms, charts or records while performing routine functions; ability to visually identify cleanliness of facility and quality of repairs.

Hear individuals speaking over the phone or in person.

Speak clearly and make yourself understood in a one-on-one situation, as well as a variety of formal and informal group settings.
