OVERVIEW Sentry Insurance is currently seeking an IT professional to join our team as an IT Operations Engineer. As an IT Operations Engineer, you'll participate in system planning, engineering, and architectural design of new team services. With your strong skills in problem solving and troubleshooting, you'll isolate service issues and analyze system event data. WHAT YOU'LL DO As an IT Operations Engineer, you'll assist in the development of automation enhancements and operational procedures. In addition, you'll:• Develop automation processes to increase the efficiency of deploying, monitoring, and restoring of IT services• Detect and correct operational problems by evaluating system utilization and monitoring overall system health• Provide direct support in IT operations and maintenance of platforms, server and network hardware, and operating systems• Monitor restoration of IT services and system performance and recommend utilization improvements• Provide Tier II support to system problems; from analyzing the problem to repairing the system• Review operational runbooks to implement emergency recovery procedures

WHAT IT TAKES
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related discipline or equivalent experience
  • Related experience required; 1-2 years preferred
  • Strong technical, analytical, and communication skills
  • Experience building automation which creates process efficiencies and provides business value
  • Experience building and maintaining integrations between systems
  • Broad programming experience in PowerShell, Python, JavaScript, or other comparable languages
  • Experience in support and troubleshooting of diverse enterprise technology systems
    • Server systems, networks, telephony, messaging, and storage
  • Experience with the ITIL® framework as an approach for IT Service Management is beneficial
