  • The Mechanical Engineer will be a core member of the Mechanical Engineering team. The Engineer will be involved in every phase of the development of products associated with automatic doors, automatic door components, and related systems.
Responsibilities
  • Advanced mechanical design and high-level innovation for new and existing products, options, and accessories
  • Create complex Creo Parametric models and BOMs of components and assemblies
    • Generate 2D manufacturing drawings using 3D model data
  • Obtain prototype components/subassemblies interfacing with domestic and foreign suppliers to build samples for testing
  • Create methodical test specifications for validation and verification of new and existing designs
  • Communicate with a Global Design Center to further elaborate on designs
    • Strong intrapersonal skills to work with other engineers to brainstorm new concepts and ideas
  • Select and specify materials for new or existing components
  • Follow the Product Development Process ensuring engineering milestones and project goals are met
    • Maintain Engineering documentation using the product change notice process
  • Work independently on other small projects including Productivity and sustaining projects
  • Build, install, and test new or upgraded products
  • Travel requirements >5%
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering
  • 7+ years design and analysis experience
Preferred Qualification
  • Electro-mechanical background preferred
  • Master's Degree preferred
  • Experience in gear trains, metallurgy, and advanced mechanisms or linkages desired
  • Strong design skills preferred
  • Experience using Creo Parametric 3D modeling preferred
    • Extensive knowledge of 3D modeling techniques for components and large assemblies
    • Ability to perform finite element analysis (FEA) a plus
    • Ability to create 2D electrical wiring schematics a plus
  • Familiarity using Windchill or other Product Data Management (PDM) software preferred
  • Knowledge of SAP desirable
  • Proficiency using MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook required
    • Ability to manage and use MS Project a plus
  • Basic use of hand and power tools
    • General knowledge of basic shop safety practices preferred
