Data Architect | Santa Monica, CA| Fulltime or Long-term contract What are we looking for? We are looking for a Data Architect to join our growing team of data engineers and analytics experts. The hire will be responsible for expanding and optimizing our data and data pipeline architecture, as well as optimizing data flow and collection for cross functional teams. The ideal candidate is an experienced data pipeline builder and data wrangler who enjoy optimizing data systems and building them from the ground up. Responsible for providing support to the division by providing data reporting needs. Independently performs reporting related tasks which are guided by policies, procedures, contracts and regulations requirements. Selects the best methodology to achieve the results identified in a plan of work or project. Responsible for collecting information based on facts, perform analyzes and makes recommendations that will be used by others in a higher hierarchical level. Responsibilities for Data Architect:
  • Create and maintain optimal data pipeline architecture, assemble large, complex data sets including images, geographical etc. that meet functional / non-functional business requirements.
  • Develops new reports, dashboards, predictive analysis and other means to enable transparency and to monitor network management operational processes and to provide timely information to senior management regarding status of compliance with guidelines, rules/regulations and internal policies and procedures and to assist with decision-making and tracking accountability.
  • Identify, design, and implement internal process improvements: automating manual processes, optimizing data delivery, re-designing infrastructure for greater scalability, etc. Determines the mechanisms for obtaining data on the use, clinical and demographic that is required internally and externally for analysis (programs, systems, etc.)
  • Coordinates plans and executes the analysis of reported data in the areas of Clinical testing, Research data, health insurance, Blue Cross Blue Shield Association, Department of health, HEDIS and others
  • Build the infrastructure required for optimal extraction, transformation, and loading of data from a wide variety of data sources using SQL and AWS big data technologies.
  • Build tools that utilize the data pipeline to provide actionable insights into customer acquisition, operational efficiency and other key business performance metrics.
  • Collaborates with cross-functional team to ensure compliance and quality requirements are met per local and federal laws and regulations and other agencies as applicable. Work with stakeholders including the Executive, Product, Data and Design teams to assist with data-related technical issues and support their data infrastructure needs.
  • Create data tools for analytics and data scientist team members that assist them in building and optimizing our product into an innovative industry leader.
  • Work with other data and analytics experts to strive for greater functionality in our data systems.
Qualifications for Data Architect:
  • Experience in Database Technology - MS SQL Server, Oracle etc.
  • 7+ years of experience with MySQL, RedShift, DynamoDB along with Cloud IaaS services etc
  • Strong Database Migration, Design and Architect experience on one of the public cloud - Azure/AWS or GCP
  • Experience Architecting and Designing large scale data storage Systems
  • Understanding Business needs and implement the Data Storage Architecture
  • Experience with AWS S3 Cloud Storage & Postgres on S3
  • Implementing Data Storage for Reporting and AI implementation
  • Experience with Reporting implementations
  • Experience Defining the Roadmap for Digital Data Storage and Implementation
  • Experience creating Implementation Plans for Digital Data Storage Roadmap
  • Extensive knowledge of Best Practices for Digital Data Storage
  • Knowledge of data lakes, file formats, external tables and predictive analytics is required.
  • Thorough understanding and knowledge of Cloud Data Platform architectures including Data Lake and Cloud Data Warehouse is required.
  • Experience with administering databases across multiple database platforms (e.g., SQL Server, MySQL, PostgreSQL, etc.)
  • Experience with data modelling, ETL/ELT for large data load, workflow management desired & ability to write, tune SQL queries desired
  • Experience in AWS/Azure Platforms and Services
  • Work directly with customers technical resources to devise and recommend solutions based on the understood requirements
  • Analyze on-premises database environments such as MS SQL Server, MySQL or RedShift, DynamoDB.
  • Consult for optimal design of database environments, analyzing complex distributed production deployments, and making recommendations to optimize performance
  • Migrate customer data workloads to AWS
  • Employ customer facing skills to represent AWS within the customers environment and drive discussions with senior personnel regarding trade-offs, standard methodologies, project management and risk mitigation
  • Experience working with high availability, disaster recovery and server tuning strategies including parameters, resources, contention, etc.
  • Experience architecting highly available systems that utilize load balancing, horizontal scalability and high availability
  • Experience with Agile execution, cloud migration factory
