As an Application Development Specialist (ADS) you will provide technical services to assigned industry customers for the purpose of sales growth, and develop and maintain long-term partnerships with customers by using industry expertise. The ADS promotes distinction between Univar Solutions and our competitors by using a technical consultative approach to needs based evaluations of the technology utilized by customers. You will adapt and implement on a local basis the national product strategies and services as written by the Industry Director. Also will assist field sellers and industry team members with joint calls, identify which Univar technological product best suits the customer's applications and develop strategies to promote customers' adaptation to and/or conversion to Univar products. Supplier Activities Include:
- Manage communication with supplier technical resources
- Collaborate on products and service solutions
- Attend product training / continual education / updates
- Assist with new product launches
- Assist in qualifications of potential new suppliers / products
- Provide feedback on technical aspects, intelligence and marketplace
- Assist customer with application / formulation support
- Provide technical support at all levels of customer (2,1,0) as necessary
- Coordinate supplier meetings at key/target customers
- Review opportunities and coordinate efforts to close with local sales organization
- Participate on joint calls with Univar Sales and Suppliers at customers
- Assist in Business Development:
- Identify new service/product opportunities through monitoring industry/market changes and customer needs
- Provide training and presentations
- Fully understands local markets/trends and products for customers
- Provide product and industry training to all Sales and Sales support teams as required
- Participate in all Industry related meeting / teleconferences
- Assist with Supplier/Customer contract negotiations
- Assist in Business plan development including goals and forecasts
- Support all aspects of development of business opportunities, targets, and prospecting
- Provide communication to stakeholders
- Assist in tradeshows (national & local) and Industry conference/meetings ; website info, literature development
- Four year college degree (technical or Chemistry preferred)
- Demonstrated technical knowledge in the area of the lubricant and metalworking fluid formulation industry
- Proficient in the use of MS Office including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
- Successful experience (five years minimum) with a technical product concentration in lubricants and metalworking fluids
- Experience dealing with customers at multiple levels, both internal and external, and supplier partners.
- Ability to travel (50-75%)
