Location: Lansing, MI Salary: Negotiable/Competitive Description: IT Security Engineer Lansing, MI Direct Hire, Full Time Employment (FTE) Must be willing to work onsite in Lansing, MI Role: Administer, secure, and manage network infrastructure. Fault analysis, performance management, provision networks and maintain quality of service. Essential Functions & Responsibilities: 40% Analyzes organizational security events to determine the impact and appropriate response actions. Compiles incident response metrics for leadership. Ensures appropriate levels of security and confidentiality are maintained at all times. Identifies risks, threats, and vulnerabilities to network, information systems or services. Maintains the availability, patching, and operational functionality of assigned security systems. Makes recommendations to eliminate or minimize risks. Administers to the enterprise security infrastructure including, but not limited to: two factor authentication platforms, web application firewalls, and enterprise logging systems. Works closely with vendor partners, which includes close working partnership. 30% Coordinate network security with security partners. Assists in installing, implementing, and maintaining security software. Tests security systems and ensures software and hardware performs appropriately. Completes quarterly security reports for management; keeps accurate and complete records of security assessments and submits them in a timely manner. 15% Purchasing, installing, and maintaining networking equipment and infrastructure. Identifying, installing, and maintaining upgrades to the network. Research, propose, and implement innovative technology focusing on expanding infrastructure, services, security, automation, and efficiency. 5% Planning network infrastructure for new applications and services. 5% Commitment to continue education through certifications, conferences and/or training. Training network staff to provide support to end users. 5% Performs other related duties as assigned. Performance Measurements: 1. Audit, exam, and Information Technology test results. 2. Network stability/outage repair. 3. Ticket management results. 4. Effective project management, from inception through implementation. On time, on scope, on budget. 5. Following policies, processes, and procedures. 6. Success of vendor partner upgrades/updates and working relationships. Knowledge and Skills: Experience Five years to eight years of similar or related experience. Education (1) A bachelor's degree, or (2) achievement of formal certifications recognized in the industry as equivalent to a bachelor's degree (e.g. information technology certifications in lieu of a degree). CISSP and/or required IT certifications preferred. Interpersonal Skills Work involves extensive personal contact with others and is of a personal or sensitive nature. Maintaining confidentiality. Motivating, influencing, and/or training others is key. Maintaining outside contacts and fostering sound relationship with other entities (companies and/or individuals). Work fluently and effectively with non-technical users throughout the organization. Acts as a representative with business and professional organizations and external IT contacts. Other Skills 1. Knowledge of computer operating systems, hardware, and software. 2. Takes initiative and works autonomously. 3. Thorough with an attention to detail including project management. 4. Analytical thinking and complex problem-solving skills. 5. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. 6. Develop and present proposals. 7. Must be able to work and travel independently and use general office equipment.
