POSITION TITLE:Emergency Medical Technician (EMT), Float Pool - PRN

Job Summary:Perform duties associated with basic medical and first aid services and emergency medical care to the sick and injured in accordance with all applicable laws, regulations and EMS Unlimited policies in the setting of (Ambulance Transport, Special Events, Operations, Training, and Wildfires). Shift assignments will be based on respective employee’s qualifications and approval within each company division. Specific requirements for Transports, Events, Wildfires, and Training teams will be described in your orientation process.

Compensation:

$12.80/hr - Any shifts scheduled for 24 hours or greater

$18.00/hr - Transport shifts scheduled for less than 24 hours

$18.00/hr - Special Event and Operations

$20.00/hr - Teaching/Instructor shifts

TBD - Wildfire deployments - pay for wildfire deployments will be at the current BLS pay rate for the respective season and assignment. May only work wildfire deployments if approved by the Fire Team.

Special Stipends and Bonuses will be paid as per the applicable project/job.Overtime - Overtime is paid as required by law

Schedule: PRN

  • Work, minimum of 36 hours per month
    • Clerical/Administrative duties, special projects and other activities as assigned may be used as requirements to meet weekly minimum.
    • May work various hours at Special Events, and/or 12,24,48 or 72 hour ambulance shifts in Rifle or Hayden, CO.
  • Schedule will be prioritized based on operational needs across all teams
  • Will be expected to work within all company teams: Events, Transports, Fires, Training and others as assigned.
  • Employee is responsible for coordinating with the scheduler to ensure minimum hour requirements are met and operational needs are addressed.
  • Must be available to work at least two weekends per month during high tempo operations periods.
  • Will submit availability in the designated scheduling platform by the 1st of each month for available day’s during the following month.
  • Required to submit, at a minimum, 5 days of availability per week and 2 weekends per month to provide flexibility and meet minimum required work hours.

The employee must:Be a positive, encouraging and customer service driven team player, as EMS is a team effort, employees must take action to maintain work area sanitation, readiness and adherence to quality assurance standards;Maintain a thorough working knowledge of applicable current standards of care, including equipment functions and uses;Assure that all certifications, licenses and registrations are up-to-date; andThe employee conducts themselves in a courteous, helpful, dignified and professional manner at all times.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:The employee must possess and apply knowledge and skills necessary to perform the duties of an Emergency Medical Technician and Rescuer, in a dignified and compassionate manner, including but not limited to:Must be capable of performing all duties autonomously and in the austere. It is not uncommon for EMS Unlimited staff to be staged at assigned aid station locations where they are the sole medical provider.Responding to emergency and non-emergency requests calmly, efficiently and promptly;Administering basic life support to patients at the scene, in a prehospital/pre-transport setting in accordance with federal, state, and local laws, regulations and standards;Assessing the nature and extent of injury or illness to establish and prioritize medical procedures to be followed;Maintaining order at scenes, including crowd disbursement and restraint of family and friends; and Completing patient care forms, insurance forms, evaluation forms, and all other forms in a competent and timely fashion.Conduct medical equipment inventory.Cleaning, organizing and restocking supplies in a ready condition after each use;Respond to requests for emergency and non-emergency medical careMaintaining accurate records of request for emergent and non-emergent first aid and medical care. Properly document each customer/patient interaction on the approved Patient Care Report in accordance with policies and procedures;Handling radio communications professionally and efficiently with careful regard to the divulgence of information respecting confidentiality requests at all times;Work Cooperatively with assisting agencies. Be nice, professional, courteous and an all around happy and pleasant person.The employee is expected to protect the privacy of all patient information in accordance with EMS Unlimited Privacy Policies, procedures, and practices, as required by federal (and state) law, and in accordance with general principles of professionalism as a healthcare provider. Failure to comply with policies and procedures on patient privacy may result in disciplinary action up to and including termination or employment.The employee may access protected health information and other patient information only to the extent that is necessary to complete your job duties. The employee may only share such information with those you have a need to know specific patient information you have in your possession to complete their job responsibilities related to treatment, payment or other company operations.

Qualifications

Educational RequirementsThe employee must have a minimum of either a high school diploma or a GED as evidence of completion of a high school education, and must have and maintain current state healthcare license at the level for which hired.2 years of field EMS experience is preferred.

Certificates, Licenses and AgeMust be 21 years of ageThe employee must possess and maintain a valid/clean driver’s license, current state EMT certification and CPR.FEMA ICS training 100 & 700 is required prior to hireAdditional certifications preferred: PHTLS, ATLS, PALS, EPC, AMLS, Hazmat, WildernessSpecific training and certifications as per respective company teams such as “Red Card”

Physical Ability exam requirements:Lifting Requirements65 lbs. Floor to Knuckles65 lbs. 12” to Knuckles50 lbs. Carry55 lbs. Knuckles to Shoulders

Job Specifics1) Pushing/Pulling 75 lbs. (Force) 100 ft. Push down and back 3 times.Using a weight sled and 75 lbs. weights the candidate will push the sled up and down 100 ft. 3 times successfully to show the ability to push a gurney.2) Getting in and out of the back of the ambulance. Show the ability to get in and out for oneminute.Using the truck simulator, the candidate will show the ability to continually get in and out of the ambulance.3) Transfer of patients. This will have 2 parts.

1 st Moving of an unconscious person- dragging rescue randy around 70 feetand back onto the back board while using the hardness provided.2 nd Minimally assist moving a conscious person to a gurney.

4) Moving a gurney into an ambulance.Using the NIOSH box and 75 lb. in weights the candidate will pick up the box, walk forward and push the box forward onto the shelf in front of him/her. Showing the ability to move the gurney onto the ambulance.

5) Endurance. Treadmill walk for 3 minutes @ 3.0 mph
