- Design, build, maintain, and monitor security infrastructure including maintenance of Linux servers and various network devices.
- Utilize configuration management tools and automation techniques to continuously improve the efficiency of system management.
- Monitor system performance to maximize uptime and plan for growth.
- Recommend and implement standards, procedures, and controls to ensure the security and reliability of UIS infrastructure.
- Serve as the Linux subject matter expert and provide procedural and technical guidance to less experienced staff.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Minimum of four years of professional Linux system administration experience.
- Combination of education, training, and experience in a technology related field totaling eight years (e.g., Bachelor’s degree in a technical field plus 4 years of work experience).
- Professional experience with programming or scripting languages such as bash, python, or similar.
- Professional experience installing and maintaining physical and/or virtual servers
- Experience with or knowledge of one or more of the following:
- Networking concepts, protocols, and services.
- One or more common configuration management tools such as Ansible, Chef, or Puppet.
- Management of virtualization infrastructure, such as VMware, Kubernetes, or equivalent.
- Configuration and management of cloud infrastructure.
