Two permanent full time positions available

Full salary range: $57,948.80 – $72,675.20

Hours: Monday – Friday, 8:00am – 5:00pm

Job summary:

Under general direction, performs field inspections of all commercial, industrial, institutional and residential structures for compliance with related codes and regulations. Prescribes action for conformance to codes and standards. Assists in the planning and implementation of owner-occupied and rental housing rehabilitation programs.

Minimum qualifications:

Associate degree from an educational institution accredited by a DOE recognized accreditation body or equivalent experience in a related field required. International Code Council Residential Building Inspector (B1) and Commercial Building Inspector (B2) or Commercial Mechanical (M2), Commercial Plumbing (P2), or Commercial Electrical (E2) Inspector certification required within 12 months of hire. Valid driver’s license with satisfactory driving record required. Must be 18 years of age per Iowa Code 92.8. Must pass criminal background check.

Preferred qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in a related field from an educational institution accredited by a DOE recognized accreditation body or three years’ experience in construction/building trades preferred. Additional International Code Council certifications such as Residential, Commercial or Plans Examiner certifications (M1-3, P1-3, E1-3, B-3), or the ability to obtain such certification within 12 months of hire is highly desired.
