Data Analyst Job Description Sr. Data Analyst, Online Security Position Overview: Seeking an experienced data analyst to deliver insights to inform fraud detection and risk mitigation strategies for the Apartments.com platform. This position relies on sound judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Individual problem-solving and analytical skills are used to authenticate customers, review patterns, and perform exploratory analyses on emerging trends. Additionally, t his position will drive the automation strategy for the team, taking a risk-based approach to protect our products and customers. In this role, analysts have the opportunity to drive roadmaps, develop key metrics, and influence policy across our business. Candidates will regularly engage with management, data analysts, developers, product teams, and vendors in order to develop strategy, drive roadmaps, and supervise projects to completion. We're looking for candidates that demonstrate initiative and a growth mindset and have a strong aptitude for problem solving. Job Responsibilities:

  • Distill data using SQL to design and implement analyses that drive actionable insights
  • Effectively present and communicate analyses to management and other stakeholders in order to drive business decisions
  • Occasionally create ETLs for data management
  • Develop metrics and create dashboards to understand trends and track progress against goals
  • Perform ad hoc analyses to identify trends, enhance fraud rules, and improve automation
  • Diagnose problems and develop compelling, data-driven recommendations, policies and processes with the goal of minimizing loss and/or driving growth
  • Work under very limited supervision
Requirements: Basic:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Statistics, Math, Engineering, Economics, Business, or related field plus 2-5 years relevant work experience
  • Experience in risk, trust & safety, payments, security, or spam prevention
  • High caliber analytical skills, including the ability to pull and manipulate large datasets using SQL and other tools, recognize complex patterns, and present sound analyses to stakeholders as demonstrated through real-world application
  • Experience using analytical reporting software and data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Looker, etc.)
  • Ability to take ownership of projects and make decisions in a fast-paced environment with minimal oversight, while balancing customer experience with risk mitigation
  • Develop and implement databases that optimize statistical efficiency and quality
Preferred:
  • Project management experience
  • Familiarity with scripting and data analysis programming languages (e.g. Python, R, etc )
  • Knowledge of payments industry practices (e.g., disputes processes, fraud types, and network rules)
  • Experience building predictive models
