The Contractor will act in a developer role on a project to design, create, and maintain an analytics extraction application for crash data using SQL Server and .NET The Contractor acts in a developer role under the guidance of the Highway Support Bureau director in the IT Division. The contractor builds statistics and analytics derived from source crash data and stores the derivations in a separate database, using C# .NET and SQL Server. The contractor is also responsible for assisting in the gathering and documenting of functional requirements and creation and maintenance of design documentation. PROJECT(s) The contractor for this position will design and develop a new project that extracts crash data, transforms that data into derivations, and loads the derivations into a separate database. DAY to DAY The typical day will include design of data analysis application according to the Traffic and Safety Bureau's specifications, as well as programming and development of the application. The backlog of all work will be entered into the Iowa DOT's Azure DevOps tenant and prioritized by the Traffic and Safety Bureau during biweekly Scrum planning sessions. The contractor will meet often with the Traffic and Safety Bureau staff, as well as meet occasionally with the Highway Support Bureau team. THE IDEAL CANDIDATE BRINGS THE FOLLOWING TO THIS ROLE: 1. Ability to troubleshoot new and unexpected issues 2. Ability to analyze and develop requirements and enter those requirements into Azure DevOps 3. Ability to design a functional, easy to maintain system in a C# .NET environment 4. An understanding of agile or Scrum development methodology TECHNICAL ENVIRONMENT C# .NET, SQL Server, Azure DevOps, some exposure to Oracle REQUIRED SKILLS: C# .NET 5 YEARS REQUIRED SQL Server- 5 YEARS REQUIRED Visual Studio - 3 YEARS REQUIRED No paid holidays.
