This role will oversee the development and maintenance of the solution platforms that support Health Information Management services. The HIM Architect will lead a development team to optimize existing performance, plan and facilitate upgrade activities, and implement new functionality. This role will have strong knowledge in health information management and document management solutions. The HIM Architect will be responsible for overall application architecture and design recommendation to HIM leaders. The HIM Architect works to map overall design to the internal customers' systems and business requirements, ensuring solutions align with business goals and processes, and fit within the enterprise.

  • Provides strong technical guidance to the project team throughout the implementation and maintenance to ensure accurate delivery of project plans and optimal ongoing performance.
    • Assists the strategy team, functional resources and business analysts with requirements-gathering and provides design guidance for HIM related projects.
    • Participates in discussions with business and technical stakeholders to extract critical business requirements and present a technical solution in the form of software products, customizations, and integrations to meet those needs within HIM solutions.
    • Obtain advanced knowledge of the HIM solution configurations and custom development.
    • Successfully collaborates with revenue cycle development team, strategy team and stakeholders to this information.
  • Provide technical expertise to solution design and integration related HIM applications.
    • Able to build and maintain HIM related solutions leveraging solution best practices.
    • Demonstrate ability to configure and problem solve HIM solutions, educating analysts on advanced configuration skills.
    • Demonstrate understanding of how current solution can be supported by model experiences and when custom configurations are appropriate.
  • Develops technical leadership skills in overseeing solution-related development, implementation, and support processes within the Solution Development team.
    • Demonstrates domain knowledge by ensuring technical solutions meet organizational business requests.
    • Maintains domain integrity by testing solutions, collaborating with internal team members and business customers on necessary technical requirements, and proactively reducing defects and downtime.
    • Maintains knowledge of third-party software vendors to leverage complementary offerings and effectively compare/contrast solutions.
    • Provides current best practices and solutions alternatives as part of functional or technical design documents.
    • Communicates complex topics regarding solutions and related projects to audiences both with and without deep technical skills.
  • Develops technical skills required to optimize and maintain applications as a domain knowledge expert.
    • Develops advanced configuration skills in the design and implementation of application and technology solutions through emerging expert-level proficiency in maintenance, functionality, and workflows of related applications.
    • Demonstrates continuous improvement by independently engaging in learning opportunities to maintain current knowledge as well as upcoming changes in functionality and maintenance of applications in assigned solution area.
    • Learns to independently research and recommend new code updates to the strategist impacting application content and functionality.
    • Provides tier 3 escalation support for complex issues
  • Leads the solution development team using agile approaches to deliver value to the organization in a timely fashion.
    • Exemplifies exceptional adherence to scrum values and assists the Senior Architect by coaching the team and facilitating scrum meetings.
    • Supports Senior Architect with monitoring key performance metrics using empiricism to drive continuous improvement of the solution development team's processes.
    • Promotes efficiency within the team by identifying, removing, and appropriately escalating impediments to daily task completion within the solution development teams

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field
  • Three to five years' experience in developing technology solutions preferred
  • Three to five years' experience with HIM solution development and configuration
  • Experience with Cerner solutions
  • Relevant experience with HIM workflows including document management, release of information and sensitive PHI management
  • Experience in Agile methodology or other lean methodology
  • Ability to work quickly and effectively in a fast-paced detail-oriented environment while adhering to deadlines.
  • Excellence in verbal and written communications skills including the ability effectively translate customer specifications to a usable configuration
  • Valid driver license. Must be granted insurable status by the Rogers Memorial Hospital insurance policy.
