- Serves as a technical expert in the instantiation, sustainment and modification of a multi-site Data Center Near line and Tape Backup services and associated firmware, hardware and applications.
- Works with various vendors to install, upgrade, configure, administer, automate and optimize backup service architectures and associated software, providing a secure, reliable and highly available storage platform to Data Center customers and services
- Performs hardware, software and firmware installation and upgrade automation
- Develops and maintains a comprehensive system event, performance and capacity monitoring plan
- Troubleshoots problems, takes appropriate corrective action and/or interacts with IT staff or vendors in performing complex testing, support and troubleshooting functions.
- Provides Tier II support for all Data Center SAN related records and requests.
- Provides Tier II/III support for all Data Center backup related records and reques
- Provides technical oversight of hardware and software systems, with a focus on Storage Area Network administration.
- Provide professional service within the parameters specified in the site's service level agreement and/or that meet or exceed the customer requirements.
- Ensure system security in compliance with customer policy including patching and auditing.
- Implement and maintain network standards and guidelines.
- Monitor system utilization including data storage management, performance metrics and service levels. Ensure reliable backup and recovery of necessary data.
- Develop and maintain an automated environment including reporting, event notifications and actions, software updates and service packs.
- Report on capacity and do proactive planning for additional storage.
- Allocates storage to servers, configuring fiber channel switches, and capacity planning for the SAN, in addition to OS level support related to implementing and maintaining system security and data recovery processes, providing technical support, utilizing automation tools for delivering applications, managing assets, monitoring performance, event notifications and automating desktop support.
- Coordinate and communicate activities, status updates, outage notifications and schedule information. Perform account maintenance.
- Ensure reliable backup and recovery of necessary data.
- Software installations/upgrades.
- Patching and IAVA compliance.
- Troubleshoots network communications.
- Maintain and document SAN cabling plans.
- Install, configure, administer and optimize servers (hardware and operating systems).
- Interface with users is an integral part of this role.
- Candidate must be of a senior level with an IAT II level contractor and have experience in datacenter automation and management systems, core networking technologies, storage systems applicable to the environment, backup systems, tape management systems, Storage Area Network and Network Attached storage systems, virtualized storage systems.
- Specific hardware experience desired includes: NetBackup, Cohesity, Dell Unity, 3PAR, VMWare vSAN
- Microsoft Windows Server Admin (2012, 2019), SQL (2014) and SharePoint Administration (2013, 2016), Enterprise Linux (RHEL 7,8), CIFS/NFS, and clustered database systems.
