Description Job Description: Leidos is seeking a Lead Hardware Engineer who will be a member of a dynamic team working on the development of an air traffic control and management system that improves aircraft runway and terminal congestion. Nationwide congestion is increasing, and the need for efficient aircraft traffic planning is critical. The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Terminal Flight Data Manager (TFDM) is the surface management solution that will provide NextGen Air Traffic Control capabilities to improve air traffic operations in the National Airspace System (NAS).The Terminal Flight Data Management (TFDM) program is a Federal Aviation Administration's (FAA) NextGen program based on airport surface management that provides efficiencies for both the airport surface and terminal airspace by providing a new and comprehensive integrated surface traffic control and management system. Hardware Engineer Responsibilities: Will be responsible for performing design and development engineering assignments related to hardware products and systems, which includes the development of new products and/or updates to existing products. Requires basic knowledge of and ability to apply principles, theories, and concepts of narrow technical domain. Solves simple, routine technical problems following established procedures and policies. Duties include: • Provide cross-functional coordination within the Operations (Hardware Site Activation Organization, Integrated Logistics Support) disciplines to ensure seamless flow throughout the hardware value-stream.• Manage and direct factory Rack Integration build schedules, resolve issues, and provide installation instructions to ensure timely and accurate system builds.• Lead the Hardware Engineering organization, establishing and maintaining the Hardware Design, support Hardware requirements verification/sell-off and develop retrofit plans and instructions for field implementations. Includes Cost Account Management (CAM) duties for managing cost and schedule baselines and changes for Hardware Engineering.• Responsible for End-of-Life (EOL) management and vendor surveys. Creating and processing EOL situation reports that identifies recommended approach to EOL instances.• Work with Vendor POC on OEM issues related to COTS Hardware in order to get to the most cost-effective and program approved solution.• Support and help guide the programs CDLS (Depot) effort, which consists of ILS engineers, management and repair staff, including Spares Provisioning, Field Failure analysis and resolution and Retrofit kit shipping. • Develop and maintain a strong customer relationship with key FAA ILS PMO and TSLE contacts.• Supports product selection trade studies, development of System Bill Of Materials, Rack and Console builds, VISIO drawing updates, Cable Marking Specifications and the creation of Retrofit and Workbook Installation Instructions. • Work hardware system Change Requests to completion. This includes getting FAA/Program Office approval and processing the change through the Engineering Change Notice (ECN) process with the necessary reviews and approvals. Additionally working the Engineering Change Process (ECP) with the FAA. • Author white papers as needed for hardware solutions that are large scale in nature and have cross-functional impacts to other organizations such as test, training, systems engineering, and software.• Support proposal efforts as needed.Qualifications:• Requires a Bachelor's of Science degree and 8 + years of prior relevant experience or Masters with 6+ years of prior relevant experience. • Must be proficient in Microsoft office, especially Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.• Prior experience in a technical leadership role that requires significant coordination across multiple functional areas.• Ability to understand a Bill of Material/Parts List• Must be proficient in Microsoft office, especially Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.• Technical leadership experience with strong organization and time management • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including experience:- working directly with customers to discuss their requirements and objectives- interfacing with other functional areas (e.g. Software, Systems Engineering)• Demonstrated ability to work effectively with others in a team environment• Strong analytical and problem solving skillsDesired Skills: • Candidates having experience in AutoCAD, Solidworks, Inventor, VISIO, or CAD software tools is a plus. • Desirable to have experience in electronic systems sustainment strategies, Maintenance Planning and Development.• Desirable to have familiarity with Materiel Release, Equipment Fielding, and Transfer, Integrated Product SupportTSFAAExternal Referral Bonus: Ineligible External Referral Bonus $: Potential for Telework: Yes, 50% Clearance Level Required: Public Trust Travel: Yes, 10% of the time Scheduled Weekly Hours: 40 Shift: Day Requisition Category: Professional Job Family: Systems Hardware Development Pay Range:
