Job Title: Product Validation EngineerJob ID: 5584Duration: 12 MonthsLocation: Seymour, IN 47274Job Description:This position will mainly focus on coordinating engine builds for a VPI project.This product focused position performs established technical tasks at the sub-system and/or component level for current and future products within a given business unit or corporate area. This involves work across many steps in the product life cycle. Because of the product centered nature of this position, they are very often a central point of coordination and decision making between product line engineers, customer teams, systems engineers, purchasing, suppliers and manufacturing.Major Job Duties and Responsibilities: Investigates product problems, understands causal mechanisms, recommends appropriate action, owns problem resolution and documents results with guidance from more experienced team members. Applies academic knowledge and existing experience to take action and make decisions that progress projects forward without sacrificing project quality expectations. Examples of these decisions include day to day project details, analysis or test work instruction details, coordination across discipline areas that are necessary to make quality progress. Provides independent execution of established work processes and systems, while still developing technology or product knowledge; engages with the improvement of systems and processes. Involves minimal direct management of people - but could involve the coordination and direction of work amongst technicians and/or temporary student employees. Contributes effectively toward team goals, exhibits influence within a work group and continues to develop proficiency in the competency areas critical to success in the role.Competencies: Technical Documentation - Documents information based on knowledge gained as part of technical function activities; communicates to stakeholders with the goal of enabling improved technical productivity and effective knowledge transfer to others who were not originally part of the initial learningPosition Requirements: A Bachelors' Degree is required for this position. Manager is seeking candidates with at least 5 years applicable work experience in their background. New college graduates with experience and/or knowledge only as it pertains to their schooling and/or school projects are not a fit for this role and are not what this manager is looking for. He needs someone with actual "boots on the ground" working experience. Strong hands-on experience with mechanical systems is required - experience building and/or tearing down engines would be great. Experience conducting laboratory tests with engine dynos preferred. Someone with experience in Project Management - this would be a really nice to have! While industry experience in auto manufacturing would be great, the manager is really just looking for someone would good hands-on mechanical experience. Organization and documentation skills.
