A bit about us:We envision a future where chemical analysis and discovery is driven by intelligent autonomous chemistry systems- anytime, anywhere. Our team is paving the way to this future by fusing innovative hardware with machine learning algorithms guided by expert knowledge of molecular spectroscopy. Our products are elegantly designed with a human touch to help you navigate complexity. Pendar's platforms help identify and detect materials, determine optimal chemical reaction pathways, and perceive the health of a human organ. By providing clear actionable results and interpretations, our solutions enable users to focus on their primary objectives: discovering and scaling-up new chemistries, responding to emergencies, and saving lives.

Why join us?Our team previously brought handheld spectroscopy to the field, founded two successful venture-backed companies, and pioneered Quantum Cascade Lasers (QCLs). We are a vertically integrated company of scientists, engineers, and innovators building our own software, spectroscopy platforms, and laser systems from the ground-up. Pendar's solutions leverage our core capabilities into uniquely insightful products for the pharmaceutical, safety & security, and medical markets. Pendar Technologies was formed in 2015 by a merger of Pendar Medical and Eos Photonics (founded by Christian Pfluegl, Laurent Diehl, Mark F. Witinski, and Federico Capasso).

The majority of assemblies are optomechanical in nature.Key Responsibilities
  • Over time, come to a thorough and deep understanding of the pass/fail metrics of various subassemblies, and the final product. Familiarity with optomechanical systems (lasers, spectrometers, etc.) is a plus.
  • Develop technician-friendly Labview programs to implement testing of subassemblies.
  • Review data generated by the test stations, in order to:
o Compile statistics (first pass yield, mean and standard deviation of certain metrics).o Ensure that tests are being performed as intended by technicians.o Continuously improve and tweak the tests, to maximize efficiency of the production line.
  • Work closely with the manufacturing team to ensure work instructions and travelers are consistent with the test procedures.
  • Work closely with the manufacturing team to make sure that the test station is up and running, and any software bugs or other problems are quickly resolved.
Education and Experience Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in a technical manufacturing environment (experience in a photonics environment is a plus)
  • 3+ years of experience developing Labview code
  • Extensive experience with hardware communication in Labview: Data Acquisition (DAQ), Optical Powermeters, Current/Voltage sources, Stepper motors, Multi-axis stages, Cameras
  • Experience with object oriented programming in Labview is a plus
  • Proficiency in python (numpy, scipy, pandas) for implementing more complicated numerical algorithms (which are less suited to Labview)
  • An understanding of version control software (git, svn)
  • A hands-on attitude to problem solving is expected. If you think you can do something better than the way it is done, propose it and do it!
  • Communication: ability to train technicians on the test procedures and Labview programs
  • Attention to detail: catch bugs before they hit the production line
  • Grit: when something unexpected goes wrong, (e.g. the software no longer connects to a piece of hardware), willing to dig deep and figure out why
