Release Train Engineer 100% remote 6 months + SUMMARY: The Release Train Engineer's (RTE) primary purpose is to support and coach the Agile Release Train (ART) by steering the team to success and navigating the complexity of delivering software consistently in large, cross-functional environments. The RTE helps resolve and escalate impediments, manages risk, helps assure value delivery and drives program level continuous improvement. The RTE is accountable for overall planning, coordination, execution and delivery of value for the teams on the ART.RESPONSIBILITIES/TASKS:

  • Assists in the execution of the product vision.
  • Works with the Product Delivery team to create the Product Roadmap and prioritization of features to be considered during each PI planning.
  • Ensures that Features being considered for PI Planning meets the definition of Ready
  • Assists the Art (Agile Release Train) in communication and coordination with stakeholders and customers thru out PI planning and delivery.
  • Facilitates the PI planning (including, Pre and Post Planning), PI Retrospective and PI reviews.
  • Manages changes to the ART's PI plan and communicates the impacts of those changes.
  • Management of the PI Backlog, metrics reporting and other reporting as needed for the release train
  • Facilitates the Scrum of Scrums for the multiple teams involved in the release train.
  • Drives cross team impediment identification and resolution, planning, collaboration and coordination.
  • Manages upstream/downstream dependencies of the ART.
  • Coach leaders, teams and scrum masters in lean-agile practices and mindsets.
EMPLOYMENT QUALIFICATIONS: EDUCATION: Bachelor's degree in Business or a technical discipline (Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering) or relevant experience required. Continuous learning, as defined by the Company's learning philosophy, is required.EXPERIENCE:
  • Ten (10) years of progressive responsibility in a software development consultative role with demonstrated technical experience that provides the necessary knowledge, skills and abilities.
  • Three (3) to Five (5) years managing team and proven experience as a scrum master, Product Owner on complex software development projects involving multiple teams.
SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE/ABILITIES (SKA) REQUIRED:
  • Demonstrable knowledge with one of the agile frameworks (SAFe, Scrum and Kanban etc.).
  • Stakeholder Management, Negotiation and Communication skills.
  • Ability to coach on how to follow agile methodologies.
  • Ability to think beyond the day-to-day activities
  • Experience applying lean thinking and systems thinking in large organizations.
  • Experience with Lean Portfolio Management facilitation for program, portfolio or executive level.
  • Understanding of the basic fundamentals of iterative and incremental development.
  • Ability to help manage scrum team backlog and priorities using agile based tools (Jira, Rally/Central Agile, Version1, etc.).
  • Excellent communication, facilitation and mentoring skills.
  • Demonstrable conflict resolution skills.
  • Demonstrable risk management and mitigation skills.
  • Extensive Knowledge of tools used to assist with scrum team planning (Jira, Rally/Central Agile, Version1, etc.).
  • Knowledge of healthcare industry, particularly Medicare preferred.
  • Use of Jira for the management of team backlog and sprint tracking preferred.
  • Knowledge of technical tools such as sql server, .net and ETL preferred.
