Job Description

Regional HSE Manager - New South Walesis a role critical to the successful implementation of our HSE initiatives and procedures that continually progress our safety culture and performance across a wide variety of operations, including resources and industrials, warehouse, and transport environments.

Indirectly and through the provision of practical HSE advice and support, you will partner with both our Labour Hire supplierwho managecontractors on our external customer sites but also with our Resources and Industrials operations,managing critical safety across some of our Fuels, Gases, and mining sites. You will be a structured and high-end safety manager who drives compliance and through coaching with key stakeholders, strives forcontinual improvement and visibility to safety, ensuring all risk is appropriately identified and managed.

With no direct reports to this role, it is the oversight of multiple regional areas that will require your HSE Management skills. There is an expectation to spend 2-3 nights per month at our Newcastle and Muswellbrook operations as well travel regularly to our Sydney sites. This is a diverse role overseeing the HSE on Toll sites and external customer sites and requires the experience and maturity of a safety professional who has worked in an industrial, manufacturing or resources environment.

Key accountabilities and responsibilities will include, but not be limited to:

  • Take the lead in coaching and mentoring your stakeholder group on HSE strategies and activities that allow and encourage a safety obsessed culture.
  • Be accountable for driving through HSE governance processes including, HSE audits, incident investigation, management reviews and RTW activities
  • Identify and implement HSE training and communication programs that clearly articulate Group HSE information and safety expectation
  • Support organisational change through comprehensive risk management programs as well as ensuring legacy risk management programs are updated and activated where required.

The ideal candidate?

To be successful you will have demonstrable experience in a similar role, ideally within a range of operating environments. Any fuels,gasses or amining knowledge is an advantage.You will be well versed in a variety of coaching techniques and will possess astrong stakeholder management focus with the ability to influence and engage.

Qualifications

Knowledge/Experience

  • 7+ years practical experience in a regionalHSE role with a focus on Transport, Warehousing, Fuels and Gases exp. highly advantageous.
  • HSE within a Labour Hire environment desirable not essential.
  • Experience in relationship management of both internal clients and external stakeholders.
  • Prior experience in participating in third party audits and corrective action planning.

Technical/Professional Skills required

  • Detailed knowledge of HSE legislation, industry standards and management system standards (AS4801, OHSAS18001 & ISO14001).
  • Excellent written and communication skills, including the ability to liaise effectively with fellow team members, management, stakeholders and industry experts and write high quality reports.
  • Experience in conducting incident investigations using ICAM or similar methodologies.
  • Competent computing skills, advanced Word, Excel and PowerPoint.

Qualifications – Education and/or professional

  • Diploma or Certificate IV (or equivalent) in Occupational Health and Safety and / or other relevant discipline
  • Tertiary HSE qualifications (highly desirable)
