OUR MISSION

The Weld County Jail will accept and lawfully hold prisoners in a safe, humane, wholesome environment that returns people to the community better, or no worse, than they arrived.

Detention Deputy is an entry level law enforcement position in which you will receive training to competently work one of three general post assignments: booking, housing units, and roving. A Detention Deputy relies heavily upon interpersonal communication skills, physical techniques and tactics, and writing skills to safely, effectively, and efficiently manage jail operations. Jail operations include performing activities necessary to maintain the health, safety, security, and welfare of jail staff and incarcerated individuals (inmates). All shift assignments are on a yearly bid basis and we maintain jail functions 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

All applicants will be placed on an eligibility list.

Academy anticipated: November 1, 2021

The following are the steps for the hiring process:

1. LawFit and the online test. Both activities have to be completed prior to turning in your background packet. We will be testing the next two Saturday mornings starting at 8:00 a.m. (July 24 and July 30).

2. After passing LawFit and the online test, we will give you instructions about turning in a completed background packet. background packet to Human Resources

3. Background Check

4. Polygraph-this is scheduled by the polygraph examiner.

5. Psychological Exam-this is scheduled by the polygraph examiner.

6. Drug Screen-scheduled by a Sheriff's Office Employee.

7. Physical fitness examination- scheduled by a Sheriff's Office Employee.

8. Hired.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

No experience required.

High school diploma or GED required.

The Weld County Sheriff's Office prohibits employees from having visible body markings (including but not limited to tattoos, body art, and branding) on the head, face, neck, hand and fingers (any area below the wrist bone).

Must be in possession of, or ability to obtain upon hire, a valid Driver's

License.

Must be 18 years of age or older.

Shift work required.

Shifts require working days, nights, weekends and holidays.
