Peraton is seeking a mid-level

IT Security Systems Administrator to join our team in

Wallops Island, VA to support our Space Exploration Network Services and Evolution contract based out of the NASA Goddard Space Flight Center. As prime contractor on the Space Exploration Network Services and Evolution (SENSE) contract, Peraton is responsible for the operation, maintenance, sustainment and systems engineering of NASA's worldwide satellite communication networks. You will work in a dynamic, team-based development environment for the NASA Near Earth Network.This position is responsible for:
  • Assist in the design, development, and implementation and maintenance of real-time and high-performance

    IT Security systems integral to the Near Earth Network communication link with robotic and manned spacecraft.
  • Assist with design, implementation, and maintenance of

    IT Security systems in the Near Earth Network's integration and test area.
  • Assist IT Security Team with mitigating vulnerabilities of these systems to demonstrate NIST 800-53 compliance.
  • Collaborate with technical engineering teams to identify, resolve, and mitigate system anomalies and complex cybersecurity issues.
  • Develop technical products and reports visible to various groups and levels of leadership.
  • Administer and Plan Tenable Security Center Organization & Nessus Scanning.
  • Develop Artifact and Analytic Dashboards and Use-Cases.
  • Support forensic efforts as required.
  • Assist with containment of threats and remediation of environment during or after any incidents.
  • Support regular audits and assessments and demonstrate system compliance and risk mitigation to assessors; Convert Audit Use-Cases into data dashboards.

Required Qualifications:
  • A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Mathematics, or other related technical field.
  • 5 years of related experience.
  • A certification, such as CISSP, CASP, Security +CE, or similar cybersecurity related certification(s).
  • 3+ years of related experience in Information Security and/or IT infrastructure experience.
  • An Operating System certification (i.e. any Windows or other operating certification)
  • 3+ years of combined experience in Linux, Windows, Networking, and Security Platform Administration
  • 3 years of experience with Linux systems to act as a backup to existing Linux System Admins
  • 3+ years of knowledge of fundamental security and network concepts (intrusion detection, TCP/IP, SSL, ports, switching, routing, etc.)
  • 2+ years of scripting and automation experience.
  • Security Clearance - This position requires you to be able to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance. In order to obtain a clearance you need to be a US Citizen and show proof of citizenship.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with Splunk
  • Experience with embedded systems.
  • Familiarity with building or maintaining satellite communication ground systems.
  • One or more of the following certifications:
    • Microsoft MCSA for Windows 10
    • Microsoft MCSA for Server 2016 or 2019
    • Microsoft MCSE for Server Infrastructure or similar
  • 2+ years of scripting experience such as Bash, Powershell, or Python (professional use for automation and analytics strongly preferred)
  • Familiarity with Clam A/V, Greylog, Nessus, Spacewalk, Commvault, IBM BigFix, Forescout, EID Authenticate, and Data Analytics or Dashboards in various platforms.
  • Ability to work well individually and in a team environment
  • Strong communication skills
