Description: Cobham Mission Systems is seeking a Senior Quality Engineer that will work with a dynamic team at our growing Davenport, Iowa facility. The successful candidate will be an integral member of Integrated Product Teams (IPTs). This position is located Davenport, IA. Key Responsibilities:

  • Interface with all CMS engineering disciplines and with customers and suppliers on quality related issues.
  • Provide technical input on quality and contractual issues to internal stakeholders and external customers.
  • Serve as Quality Representative on configuration control board (CCB) as necessary.
  • Serve as a Quality Representative Chair for material review board (MRB) and/or inspection review team.
  • Serve as Quality Representative on Integrated Product Teams.
  • Serve as Quality Representative on corrective action teams.
  • Design or specify inspection and testing mechanisms and equipment.
  • Analyze production and service limitations and standards, and recommend revisions of specifications when indicated.
  • Review design concepts and technical documentation.
  • Perform necessary tests with equipment and effectively document test results.
  • Formulate or assist in the preparation, review, and approval (if applicable) of quality documents such as plans, policies, procedures, and reports.
  • Participate in and/or perform various audit along with compiling corresponding reports when required.
  • Assist with the implementation of quality processes, procedures, work instructions, standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Conduct training on quality assurance concepts, tools and software.
  • Serve as the Quality Point of Contact (POC) between the Operations and other quality functions.
  • Manage customer and internal communications in a timely and professional manner, ensuring they are handled as required.
  • Ensure lessons learned are applied to other programs and ensure processes are updated accordingly.
  • Lead the monthly report outs as assigned.
  • Provide support relative to the collection and analysis of quality data.
  • Document and report concerns via internal tracking methods including but not limited to nonconformance records.
  • Mentor IPT team members on requirements as needed.
  • Ensures both customer and regulatory requirements are met.
  • Support the adherence of business management system (BMS) processes by all functions.
  • Interprets engineering drawings and specifications, customer quality requirements, and company quality requirements to ensure compliance with the customer's expectations.
  • Perform Root Cause Corrective Action utilizing disciplined methodologies such as 8D to ensure effectiveness.
  • Act as the functional project manager within the Quality team, managing the Quality deliverables and their completion to the project schedule and requirements to all projects as assigned.
  • Witness and audit the building and testing of product as needed.
  • Perform risk analyses and implement associated mitigations.
  • Review and approve work instructions.
  • Assemble and verify customer PPAP submissions for acceptance as needed.
  • Review all customer/program deliverables/activities and verify for their completeness.
  • Participate in monthly/periodic reviews and present the quality status up to and including senior leadership as required.
  • Perform all operations according to prescribed safety and environmental principles.
  • Less than 25% travel required.
Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree plus 5 years' Quality Assurance (QA) experience OR High school diploma (or equivalent) plus 10 years' Quality Assurance (QA) experience OR High school diploma (or equivalent) with CQE Certification and plus 7 years' Quality Assurance (QA) experience
  • 3+ years of experience with AS9100/ISO9001 (aerospace), MIL-STD, ISO13485 (medical), or TS16949 (automotive)
  • In order to be considered for this opportunity, you must be eligible to obtain and maintain security clearance, which requires USA Citizenship.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering Field (i.e., Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering)
  • 4+ years of Engineering experience
  • 3+ years of experience with AS9145
  • 3+ years of experience with AS9142
  • 3+ years' experience with Root Cause Analysis Tools, Lean Manufacturing, Statistical Process Control (SPC) and Lifecycle Management (LCM) experience.
  • 3+ years' experience with Quality Management Systems (QMS) Auditing
  • 3+ years' experience in reading and interpreting technical documents, including prints (GD&T), drawings, and engineering orders.
  • Familiarity with Six Sigma and Lean Manufacturing
  • Ability to operate measuring and gauging equipment, and proficiency in GD&T
  • DOD and MIL-STD experience
  • Military aviation or aircraft modification experience
  • FAA experience
  • Experience with reviewing production processes for compliance with quality requirements.
  • Experience in leading corrective actions and Validating corrective action effectiveness.
  • Experience in the development of audit plans, audit schedules.
  • Experience in participating in quality audits (and lead a team of quality auditors, when needed).
  • Able to identify processes, situations, etc., where organization is meeting requirements, as well as identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Experience in developing audit reports; present audit reports to top management, as needed.
