If you are interested in the opportunity below, please send your resume to csavely@apexsystems.com Position: Software Engineer Duration: Contract to Hire Location: 100% REMOTE - Client in Ohio In this role, you will work primarily with our Lead Data Engineer to maintain and evolve our data pipelines and reporting infrastructure. You will work with Python and SQL in AWS to consolidate, transfer, and report on data from a variety of sources. Your secondary responsibilities will be to work closely with a small product team to implement product features for our mobile applications to serve customers with an engaging, dynamic user experience. We have seen people thrive in this role from a variety of backgrounds, but we work primarily in React Native on the client and Ruby on Rails on the server. Two engineers discussing their ideas Responsibilities Build scalable, highly reliable product features Design, implement, and maintain applications used by both mobile and desktop clients Create and maintain documentation pertaining to code and engineering processes Work in a collaborative environment by occasional pair and/or mob programming Communicating with Engineering Managers and Product Owners to plan and prioritize work and design technical solutions Work in a cadence of two-week sprints with daily stand-ups and bi-weekly retrospectives Conduct design and code reviews Grow subject matter expertise in programming, product, and platformTechnical Requirements 2+ years of experience as a software or data engineer Experience with Python tools associated with data engineering Experience with AWS data environment and tools (or equivalent) Experience writing complex SQL (we use Redash, Redshift, and PostgreSQL) Designing implementations for and reporting from analytics tools like Mixpanel or Google Analytics A strong foundation in object-oriented or functional programming Solid understanding of the full development life cycle Hands-on knowledge of version control systems such as Git Experience consuming RESTful APIs Non-Technical Requirements A disciplined approach to development, testing, and quality assurance A desire for a deep technical understanding of our systems and architecture A continuous learning mindset that keeps you current on development best practices and trends Effectively communicate technical designs and considerations to peers and product leadership Ability to own tasks and resolve ambiguity in requirements Reason with and adapt to evolving development tasks and priorities Balance trade-offs between speed and quality based on business priorities Nice to Have Experience with React Native or a similar JavaScript framework Experience with Swift, Java, and/or Kotlin Experience with GraphQL Experience with testing frameworks like XCTest, Espresso, or Detox Willingness to participate in mentoring and skills transfer among team membersEEO EmployerApex Systems is an equal opportunity employer.
