IT Business Analysts

to join our eCommerce team in 2021! eCommerce is an exciting and rapidly growing strategic focus for our company as we expand our capability in digital marketing/sales and create easy, intuitive online purchasing experiences for our customers. You will get broad IT experience early in your career, playing a key role by contributing to initiatives such as the launch and growth of our eCommerce technology platform, digital marketing strategy, and analytics. Simply stated, our IT Business Analysts partner with teams across our business and within IT to translate customer needs into technology solutions.This position is perfect for strong communicators and problem solvers who enjoy working with a variety of people, playing a consultant role in their area of expertise, and who are eager to dig in and learn deeply about our business in a self-directed way. You should also be tech-savvy and enjoy partnering with IT teams to translate requests from your business partners into technical concepts/plans that serve as the foundation for creating technology solutions.

WHAT YOU'LL BE WORKING ON
  • Become a subject matter expert on eCommerce as it applies to HNI's business model, and serve as an internal consultant on best practices and technology trends
  • Build and leverage relationships with internal business partners, IT teams, and external partners to deliver technology solutions
  • Work with stakeholders across our business to conduct "needs analysis" for projects and investments-identify the potential business value of technology investments and initiatives upfront, capture business needs and requirements, and help our business partners develop their business case (strategic "why") for project s
  • Provide technology and process recommendations based on analyzing business and customer needs, and consult with your internal business partners on the potential pros/cons/impacts of alternate approaches
  • Create and implement technology testing plans and scenarios, and develop mock-ups and prototypes for assigned projects
  • Develop and document the functional specifications for assigned projects, which describe the functional design of a system, its RICEW (reports, interface, conversion, enhancements/extension and workflow) needs, and gap analysis
  • Contribute to system design and configuration for applications in your area of responsibility
  • Prepare and deliver communications to a variety of audiences, including business and IT leaders
  • Identify and resolve problems in a timely manner, gathering and analyzing information, developing alternative solutions, and thriving in individual and group problem solving situations

WHAT IT TAKES
  • 4-year college degree with a major in Management Information Systems (MIS), Marketing, or related IT/Business emphasis. Upcoming 2021 graduates are encouraged to apply!
  • Minimum 2.8 GPA; above 3.0 preferred
  • Related work experience, internships and/or campus activities
  • Tech-savvy, with a knack for quickly learning and applying technical/IT concepts (particularly important if you are a non-IT student, such as a marketing major)
  • Strong communication and influencing skills-able to communicate and influence technical and non-technical audiences effectively-in writing, virtually, and in person
  • Self-starter with strong personal motivation and desire to take initiative and ownership
