Job Description

GENERAL SUMMARY:

To manage, develop, and organize all day to day inventory operations throughout multiple buildings. Responsible for all inventory control for shipping, receiving, handling and auditing along with daily data entry of receiving and shipping product. Analyze inventory and reports verifying all movement. Will provide excellent customer service to internal and external customers along with the ability to understand and comply with Feeding America & AIB/ Safe food Handling practices and procedures.

TYPICAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Oversee the timely and accurate posting of inventory receipts and distributions
  • Develop and monitor key metrics that ensure optimal inventory performance
  • Prepare internal poundage reports and external Feeding America monthly and quarterly poundage reports
  • Prepare monthly inventory transaction and valuation reports for Federal, State and County agencies
  • Maintain cost information for inventory items to ensure all donated products are costed accurately in accordance with Federal, State and Feeding America guidelines.
  • Develop an ongoing program of inventory cycle counts and work with Warehouse Manager on implementing and monitoring program
  • Assist in the coordination of annual physical inventory and all Audits
  • Support Operations team with guidance for proper inventory control
  • Serve as a functional/SME for Ceres inventory software and provide training and assistance to users
  • Maintain reporting and spreadsheets where necessary for programs
  • Physical financial and operational analysis of specific areas within Operations
  • Support Operations function by creating reports to analyze efficiencies of various functions of the group
  • Assist in development and documentation of processed and systems to improve efficiency of Operations group
  • Ensure that all members of the Inventory staff are trained in all functions of their specific job and cross trained with all functions of team members.
  • Supervise and maintain accountability of staff
  • Performs other duties and special projects as assigned

Qualifications

Minimum Knowledge and Education and Work Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Accounting or Business Management or 3 to 5 years of inventory systems software, or an equivalent combination of education and experience is required
  • Thorough knowledge with experience in MS Excel, Word is required
  • Ceres Inventory Software experience is highly preferred

Specific Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:

  • Ability to develop work plans, prioritize tasks, and oversee multiple activities & projects
  • Excellent organizational, reasoning, mathematical and communication skills
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Ability and willingness to train/operate heavy power equipment, such as fork lifts, pallet jacks
  • Sensitivity, tack, diplomacy, with keen sense of discretion and confidentiality
  • Ability to understand and comply with Feeding America & AIB/ Safe Food Handling Practices & Procedures

Additional Information

Working Conditions:

Work is value, goal and deadline oriented, with extensive external contact; possible extended hours, warehouse environment; must be able to stand, bend, lift and carrying items weighing up to 70 pounds, able to operate power equipment as needed.

Regular and prompt attendance is an essential function of the position.

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk, hear, stand, walk, and sit for long periods. The employee will be required to travel within eastern Michigan, with the occasional out of state conference related to the operations of the food bank.
