Job Description

The

Vice President of Information Technology (IT) will provide vision and leadership in the development and implementation of Salud’s Information Technology program. The IT program includes Salud’s hardware, software, EMR, data storage, communications, imaging, office automation, and security. The Vice President (VP) approaches his/her tasks in a team-based care fashion that supports patients and their families in a self-management, self-efficacy, and behavior change. The VP will lead Salud in planning and implementing IT systems to support the overall operation of the organization including medical, dental, finance, and administration.

Specific Duties:

  • Leads the strategic and tactical planning, development, evaluation, and coordination of the IT systems for the organization. Researches new technology, software, and systems and recommends upgrades/changes to the Chief Operations Officer. Participates in future HIE technology needs and data sharing needs and benefits
  • Approves and leads all projects related to selection, acquisition, development, and installation of major IT systems for the organization. Provides advice on evaluation, selection, implementation, and maintenance of IT systems, ensuring appropriate investment in strategic and operations systems
  • Leads the management of multiple information and communication systems and projects, including voice, data, imaging, and office automation
  • Oversees and evaluates the system's security. Recommends or makes, as appropriate, changes to ensure the security of Salud’s systems and data
  • Develops internal and external business partners to ensure Salud’s current and future business IT needs are met. Works in conjunction with Salud’s Executive Team, Vice Presidents, Medical Providers, Dental Providers, Behavioral Health Providers, and all other staff to ensure that patients obtain the highest standard of integrated health care via technology systems
  • Leads and ensures Salud meets or exceeds HIPAA Security requirements and other local, state, and federal regulatory compliance requirements
  • Manages the IT budget in conjunction with the Chief Financial Officer and Chief Operations Officer. Including but not limited to: hardware/software acquisition and maintenance contracts, budget development and monitoring, equipment and software “refresh” schedules, and security and maintenance renewal schedules
  • Develops and implements IT policies and procedures. Ensure appropriate approval, communication, and implementation
  • Facilitates communication between staff, management, vendors, and other technology resources within the organization and external to the organization as appropriate to identify and evaluate IT needs and efficiency
  • Leads the development and implementation of user training programs
  • Selects, trains, supervises, and evaluates IT systems staff
  • Provides corrective action if needed in conjunction with Human Resources and COO
  • Identifies potential grant opportunities to off-set costs of IT systems
  • Serves on various committees or groups as appropriate to represent Salud’s IT program

Supervision Received:

  • Works under the supervision of the Chief Operations Officer (COO)

Supervision Exercised:

  • Information Technology staff

Qualifications

    Education:

    • College Degree in engineering/technical/computer science or another closely related field
    • Extensive experience in an IT Systems leadership position may be considered in lieu of a college degree

    Experience:

    • Four (4) years of management experience in an Information Technology area. Experience in health care organization preferred

    Licensure/Certification:

    • Requires valid Colorado driver’s license

    Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

    • Significant experience in an Information Technology health care setting is desirable.
    • Experience with practice management, financial management, and clinical management information systems.
    • Familiarity with desktop, notebook, hand-held, and server computer hardware; local and wide area network design, implementation, and operation; operations systems such as Windows, word processing, databases, spreadsheet programs, and communications software; printers, monitors, modems, and other equipment
    • Ability to develop and maintain professional relationships with staff, co-workers, supervisors, and others
    • Leadership and management skills
    • Critical thinking skills
    • Ability to translate business need to IT applications and to translate IT services to business applications
    • Ability to communicate effectively in writing and verbally
    • High level of emotional intelligence
