Potential for Remote Work: NoDescription SAIC is looking for a Systems Engineer to support a dynamic program in Denver, CO or Chantilly, VA. This position requires an active TS/SCI with Poly to start. Individual will serve as the Ground Functional Thread Lead and Systems Engineer within the NRO Low Earth Orbit (LEO) Systems Program Office (LSPO). A Functional Thread Lead is responsible for understanding the operations and capabilities of the satellite ground element function, from initiation of satellite mission tasking through the planning, resource management, and execution of ground operations required to support successful mission execution. Key duties/responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
  • LSPO's principle advocate and subject matter expert (SME) for the functional thread
  • Provide recommendations to LSPO leadership and the contractor on development and implementation of capabilities required to support the functional thread
  • Lead end-to-end (E2E) closure of the mission thread for new satellite system with new ground capabilities
  • Responsible for interfaces and interactions across Mission Management, Collection, and Mission Processing
  • Engage with NRO/Ground Enterprise Director's (GED) SIGINT Ground SPO on operations and closure of mission management capabilities
  • Develop/Support integration, test and transition and implementation plans for new capabilities
  • Support development and management of requirements, architecture, and CONOPS to include researching changes, understanding impacts within the program and with external stakeholders and providing recommendations to the program leadership
  • Ensure development needs are accurately captured and documented in requirements and CONOPS. Track and evaluate allocation of requirements to subsystems and units
  • Support development and management system inter-segment ICDs associated with the functional thread
  • Coordinate and support definition of, integration with, and migration to NRO Enterprise Initiatives as appropriate
  • Collaborate/coordinate as necessary with other LSPO Divisions, the NRO Enterprise acquisition offices, Users and Stakeholders and development contractors to enable end-to-end mission closure
  • Support the training of mission operators and analysts
  • Support integration and test activities at the segment and enterprise level
  • Work with other staff members and Users, support the definition of the next generation mission capabilities
  • Travel within the US 1-2 times per quarter for up to five days per trip
Qualifications TYPICAL EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Bachelors and nine (9) years or more experience; Masters and seven (7) years or more experience ; PhD or JD and four (4) years or more experience. Required Qualifications:
  • 9+ years' experience with satellite ground systems to include satellite mission management and command and control functions
  • Experience working in a satellite systems program office or a satellite development facility
  • Critical thinking skills
  • Excellent communications skills
  • Organizational skills
  • Technical Bachelor's degree
