A Product Designer creates visual representation for existing and new screens across the Paycom system across multiple platforms. They work closely with their team members and Team Lead to produce quality Paycom standard mockups for mobile and web based applications.

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Translates design to layout, typography and visual hierarchy
  • Designs products from conception through development process
  • Guides design process through work with cross-functional teams to ensure vision and execution alignment
  • Partners closely with product and development teams to support design strategy
  • Follows existing design systems and style guides to create mock-ups that ensure a consistent Paycom experience
  • Designs new components or patterns to the existing design systems and style guides
  • Uses research data, design principles, or other objective information to support and promote design decisions and recommendations
  • Participate and occasionally lead usability testing sessions and interpret data to use in designs.
  • Considers the holistic user experience and potential states in their work
  • Identifies and flags instances where existing patterns do not work properly
  • Considers how their design can support the company vision and team goals
  • Demonstrates knowledge of our design processes by effectively working through the correct process for each design
  • Presents design frameworks, processes, interaction, etc. to those outside of design team in meetings or in formal presentations
  • Creates interactive prototypes of varies levels
  • Leads design meetings when needed
  • Provides feedback and mentorship to Associate Designers
  • Assists with special projects as needed

Education/Certification:
  • Bachelor's degree in art related, computer science, or technical field required or equivalent practical experience in application or product design

Experience:
  • 4+ years' experience in design, including multi-platform application, product, graphic design, digital media or related
  • Experience in some form of design programs such as, Adobe, Sketch, etc.
  • Portfolio required for review upon interview

Skills/Abilities:
  • Familiar with different data collection techniques and design products based on data analysis
  • Proficiency in information architecture, user flows and cross-platform flows
  • Strong understanding of department vision, the development process, and the interdependencies
  • Understands the different frameworks of other teams outside the Product department
  • Ability to create original, imaginative, and creative designs dependent on the project assigned.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong knowledge in HTML/CSS
  • Effectively builds and manages relationships across teams and functions
  • Able to communicate complex ideas, goals, and problems in a way that is easy for others not familiar with the project to understand
  • Proficient in UI software, Principle, Axure, Confluence, UTrack and Wrike
  • General knowledge of Web 2.0 Technologies, including Javascript Technologies: JQuery,Json,Ajax, Rich Internet Application Development, Responsive Web Design, and UI Performance Tuning
  • Knowledge of mobile interface design across multiple operating systems
  • Self-directed with the ability to work with limited supervision
  • Flexible and cooperative in fulfilling all obligations
