Position Summary: In the heart of South Florida, the City of Dania Beach is an ideal and exciting place to live and work. Dania Beach was incorporated in 1904 and is Broward County's First City. The City is a major player in South Florida's academic, marine and tourism industries and filled with culture. The City has an exciting opportunity for an innovative individual to lead the City's Information Technology Division, oversee the City's technology infrastructure, which includes hardware, software, networking, security, and related contracts along with a focus on continual improvement & efficiency. This is a newly created position that is instrumental to the daily operations of the City and its staff. The incumbent will provide guidance and consultation to senior leadership, and other operating departments, in the development and implementation of technology solutions. The incumbent will develop and execute creative strategies for cost-effective technology service delivery and will be accountable for the effective management of all related vendor partnerships.

Duties & Responsibilities: Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
  • Oversee all technology-related City operations, including IT staff and consultants
  • Provide comprehensive recommendations regarding technology considerations to Finance Director and City Manager
  • Investigate and develop strategies to modernize City's technology infrastructure
  • Produce all live City Commission and CRA Board meetings and broadcast to Comcast and online
  • Develop and implement annual Information Technology Fund budget.

Qualifications:

What's required:

(Minimum Requirements)
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or closely related field or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience that provides the necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities.
  • Five (5) years of progressively responsible work experience with at least two (2) years in an administrative capacity
  • Two (2) years of supervisory experience
  • Experience with annual and capital budgets

What's preferred

  • Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or closely related field
  • Two (2) years of experience working in government
