UI DeveloperA UI developer builds high performance, semantic web pages, with full cross browser support, to create a best in class website for Southwest.com.Expectations for UI developers include, but are not limited to, the following outcomes:• Creating hand-coded, semantic HTML from site designs (comps)• Building pages which implement the agile requirement specifications (user stories)• Ensures web pages render smoothly and quickly using best practices such as sprites, efficient CSS rules, well-tuned JavaScript• Communicates effectively with stakeholders and peers in daily stand-ups, end of sprint status meetings, etc.• Repairs defects as needed - Assists backend developers to implement UI updates and fix defects• Coordinates with other UI developers working on southwest.com to ensure consistency and best practices• Builds reusable components to share across southwest.com such as common overlays, utility JavaScript functions, etc.• Continues to evolve UI standards such as defining style guide, documenting reusable components, etc.• Maintains southwest.com and builds maintainable components• Tests implemented solutions and builds testable components• Estimates scope of project tasksExpert level knowledge required (6+ years)• JavaScript• HTML/HTML5• CSS/CSS3• Idiomatic JavaScript• JavaScript MV\ Frameworks (angular, ember, backbone)• Standard OOP concepts• High performance best practices (fast loading web pages)• Debugging and troubleshooting- problem resolution• Cross browser idiosyncrasies- will be interfacing with a lot of different devices and browsers• AJAX• Testing best practices• Creating technical and procedural documentation pertaining to designated enterprise mobile device configurations, technical support, processes, and procedures• APIs• Web Content Accessibility Guidelines• Jasmine• JavaScript Template Engine• CSS Grid Systems• RESTResponsibilities include UI development, and delivery of technology projects in the Southwest.com product family.Projects range in size from small enhancements to supporting large cross-functional programs.This position requires heavy collaboration and communication with Project Managers, Scrum Masters, Analysts, Tech Leads, Fellow Developers and Business Partners.This position may require extended hours to meet critical deadlines and support needs. Travel requirements are minimal and may be occasionally necessary to support project activities.This role will be responsible for the UI development duties on one of the assigned development Teams (pods) responsible for execution and delivery of projects in the Southwest.com product family. UI resources are matrixed out to the various development pods and also supplemented with offshore UI resources.
