Job Description

The Lunch Administrator is a full-time position. The Lunch Administrator is responsible for meal preparation, data collection and data entry into our lunch tracking platform at each school. Employees in this position are expected to maintain a “whatever it takes for our children” attitude. Flexibility, organization, and the ability to positively interact with children, staff and vendors are also essential. The Lunch Administrator may be expected to work independently or as part of a team with the vendor. The Lunch Administrator may primarily support an individual school but may be required to support other schools on the campus as needed. Experience with data entry, filing, and comfort with technology is required. Preferred experience with PowerSchool, Outlook and Microsoft software.The Lunch Administrator is a non-exempt position and reports to the Senior Manager of Campus Operations at the campus.

Qualifications

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Daily:

  • Working collaboratively with food service vendors and other administrators to execute daily meal operations.

  • Maintaining the school kitchen in compliance with health codes, including taking accurate readings of the refrigerator and oven temperatures

  • Ensuring compliance with the National School Lunch Program

  • Counting breakfasts and lunches after they are delivered

  • Preparing the breakfast and lunch carts, and delivering them to classrooms

  • Serving breakfast and lunch to all students, as appropriate

  • Cooking breakfast and lunch in retherm ovens and taking food temperatures, as appropriate

  • Cleaning and sanitizing of food prep tables and kitchen appliances

  • Packing and organizing snacks, and delivering to classrooms

  • Collecting breakfast, lunch and snack Point of Service rosters and bags from classrooms

  • Entering daily breakfast and lunch participation counts from those rosters into KIPP DC’s breakfast and lunch tracking platform accurately and in a timely fashion

  • Working with campus staff to ensure that breakfast and lunch counts have been tallied and entered accurately and in a timely fashion

  • Completing food production records on a daily basis

  • Maintaining an organized filing system according to company standards

  • The ability to lift and carry up to 40 pounds

Weekly:

  • Tidying and organizing the kitchen area, ensuring compliance with health regulations

  • Organizing the refrigerator and storage areas

Occasionally:

  • Serving food at school events, such as parent breakfasts or other picnics

  • Attending mandatory training to meet annual training requirements

Schedule and hours:

  • This is a full-time position, requiring 40 hours per week with some commitment to overtime on certain days.

  • These hours will always include enough time to prepare breakfast, serve lunch, and pack snacks

  • The schedule is from 7:00 am – 3:30pm. The schedule for the Lunch Administrator is up to the discretion of the Senior Manager of Campus Operations, and can be changed depending on need.
