Job Description

POSITION OVERVIEW:

The Associate Director of Talent Development will be responsible for project managing various components of talent development including: school leader selection, school leader reflection cycles, and headquarters professional development. The Associate Director will focus on building systems that align with and enhance our current structures as well as School Leader and HDQ Leadership Competencies. The Associate Director will work closely with the Knowledge and Learning team to implement systems that support the vision for excellent school leaders. The Associate Director is an exempt position and will report to the Director of Talent Development.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

School Leader Selection - 40%

  • Primary project manager for all school leader selection processes

  • Creates goals and milestones for selection processes

  • Communicates with internal and external stakeholders

  • Trains and norms with interviewers/selectors

  • Organizes and facilitates in-person interview days

  • Delegates deliverables and tasks to school leader project team as appropriate

School Leader Performance Reflections - 25%

  • Supports the ongoing improvements to the design of the performance reflection cycle

  • Creates a user-friendly system that will allow vice principals and principals to focus on the purpose of performance reflections,

  • Encourages and monitoring completion, and

  • Analyzes trends to support leadership development initiatives and ongoing improvement of the system

Headquarters Professional Development - 25%

  • Supports the professional development of headquarters staff through researching best practices in professional development and performance reflection

  • Supports the design, implementation, tracking and facilitation of professional development opportunities for headquarters team members

Headquarters Performance Reviews - 10%

  • Supports the tracking, monitoring and communications of the annual headquarters performance review period

  • Analyzes and synthesizes trends from performance reviews to inform next steps for talent development supports

Qualifications

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s degree required

  • Post-Bachelor’s degree (ex. Masters’ or professional school equivalent) preferred

  • Six to eight years of relevant experience required

  • Strong facilitation skills preferred

  • Strong project management skills required

  • Strong cultural competency skills, including the ability to communicate and work effectively and cultivate relationships with a diverse set of stakeholders

  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills and an ability to take initiative, receive feedback, and seek creative ideas

  • Strong time management and a detail and results-oriented team player who is dedicated to getting the job done

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Comfort with working in a fast-paced nonprofit environment, along with an outstanding ability to multitask, prioritize, manage and execute projects at a high level

  • Passion for education reform and the belief that every child can succeed; experience in K-12 education strongly preferred
