CIVIC ENGAGEMENT OUTREACH SPECIALIST FOR THE LATINX COMMUNITY

Salary: $18 - $20 an hour depending on experience

Job Type: Contract/Part-time (10 - 15 hours a week)

Location: Remote and (in person) available to table at events in Anchorage

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree or prior, relevant work experience in community education and organizing and GOTV (Required)

Bilingual English/Spanish (Required)

Outreach: 1 year (Preferred)

By collaboration with communities throughout Alaska, Enlaces works to advance social justice and equity for Latinos and Hispanics in the North. The organization works in four different categories: Civic Engagement, Education, Health & Wellness and Culture.

Full Job Description

We are looking for a responsible and enthusiastic person that has knowledge of the Latinx community in Anchorage, that is bilingual in English and Spanish and that communicates well with others. The Civic Engagement Outreach Specialist primarily responsibility is to develop, implement and manage a civic and voter engagement program, including voter registration, non-partisan voter education, voter turn-out efforts, and field/data tracking, finding, and attending outreach events in the community virtually and in person, and attending trainings from our partner organizations. The candidate will work closely with the board of directors and will set hers/his own schedule. Please don’t apply if you have a full-time job.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Responsible for attending virtual and in person meetings

Engage in civic education and Get Out the Vote efforts targeting the Latino/Hispanic community. Will also work with partner organization in the same efforts

Organize Enlaces civic engagement activities

Actively manage Enlaces social media for civic engagement education

Research and recommend ideas and strategies to grow and improve the mission statement of the organization

Communicate effectively with the board of directors

Performs additional duties and projects as assigned

Qualifications:

Education: Bachelor’s Degree from accredited university or prior, relevant work experience of at least one (1) year in community education & organizing and GOTV required. Bilingual in English and Spanish required.

Experience: Demonstrated strong analytical, detail oriented and critical thinking skills; Strong communication skills, both written and verbal; Strong customer service, time management, communication, and interpersonal skills; Strong organizational skills with the ability to work independently, manage workload, and meet deadlines required.
