Group Home Counselor (Aurora) FT/PT

PROGRAM OVERVIEW

Rise Home is a specialized group facility that houses children between the ages of 12 to 21. The Rise Home Youth Counselor will encourage increasing individual independence, choice, community integration, and meaningful goal tracking for each Rise Home client. Services are provided in the most inclusive, least restrictive, community-based fashion, while meeting the individual's needs and helping them work towards their goals.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

Responsible for providing a therapeutic atmosphere within the group home setting.

Offer input to coordinate components of the treatment program, including residential activities.

Facilitate the development of independent living skills, pro-social behaviors, and implementation of individualized treatment plans for each client.

Monitor and interact with the clients during meals, while they do their chores and homework, and during free time and at bedtime.

Dispenses medications as necessary, keeps various records, and attends weekly/monthly meetings.

Functions as a conscientious member of a team in cooperation with other staff members and under the supervision of the Rise Home Program Supervisor.

Reside in the home when scheduled for 24 hour shifts, you are able to sleep at night.

Maintain compliance with annual DMV reviews, physicals, and all training and compliance requirements including attending in-service meetings.

Have and constantly update training in Therapeutic Crisis Interventions and intervene in crisis using approved crisis intervention strategies.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

High School Diploma and experience in working with adolescents preferred.

Must be at least 21 years of age.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND/OR ABILITIES

Ability to pass a physical examination.

Ability to pass background check with the Colorado Bureau of Investigation.

Ability to pass background check with the Federal Bureau of Investigation.

Ability to gain clearance through the Colorado Central Registry of Child Abuse and neglect (TRAILS).

Have or obtain and maintain First Aid and CPR certification.

Have or obtain and maintain QMAP certification.

Ability to work as a team member.

Perform basic writing, communications, and computer skills.

Function as a group leader and role model in relation to troubled youth.

Respond appropriately to the emotional and physical needs of adolescents.
