Python Backend Developer

A limited amount of remote work will be possible once the candidates are trained, but they must assume that these positions will involve a regular daily commute to the campus.• For this reason, we are looking for local Houston Area candidates onlySenior Python Backend DeveloperPrimary Job Functions:• Collaborate with engineers, geoscientists, data managers, and other software developers to build, and deliver solutions to our most challenging upstream business problems• Architect, implement, deploy, and support cloud-ready and cloud-native, web-based applicationsJob Requirements:• Minimum of ten years of experience developing, deploying, and supporting Python-based applications through CI/CD pipelines• Expert in Python development for back-end services, APIs, and integration with transactional databases and applications• Development of Python containerized micro services• Capable of assisting and mentoring other developers• Strong communication skills and ability to work in a collaborative environment with software developers and domain experts• Strong grasp of software engineering best practices for code quality and maintainability such as OOAD, SOLID principles, and automated testing• Good grasp of the REST architectural style and experience implementing REST APIs using Python and Flask• Experience building data models and data access layers against either SQL or NoSQL databases• Experience building, deploying, and supporting applications on the Microsoft Azure/Openshift cloud platformPreferred Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:• Prior work experience with large scale data management systems• Experience working on teams following Agile software development methodologies• Experience participating in the user centered design processTechnology Stack• Python• Postgres/MSSQL/Oracle Relational Databases• OpenShift/Kubernetes• Snowflake (data warehousing)• Apache Airflow• Azure PaaS
