JOB SUMMARYLead Individual contributor who responsible for providing technology leadership for the development of wireless access technologies including mobile handsets, RF engineering design, and deployment support. Drive the wireless technology roadmap with stakeholders, i.e. product organization, engineering and operations as well as vendors and MSO partners. Responsible for defining and developing Charter's wirelessmobile device technology architecture merging the mobile wireless efforts of Charter, Time Warner Cable (TWC) and Bright House Networks (BHN) and driving the implementation of this unified Charter solution, allowing wireless access within the customer's home, business and on the go.MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESResponsible primarily for the Wireless Mobile Device development. SIM profile development, SIM OTA and SMDP+ deployment and the related infrastructure and products required to support device deployment in the Charter Mobile Network.Assess new products requirements and develop technology solutions and architecture design to support them.Produces Technical Bulletins and relevant technical documentation for Operations to deploy and manage mobile devices and network infrastructure.Develops, Tests & create certification test cases on SIM profiles and applications products for the field to deploy.Supports the deployment of WiFi and 4G/5G Access Networks.Supports Business Services with selling Wireless Services to vertical businesses such as Venues, Hospitality and Mobile Operators. Provide site surveys and RF design as well as assist in opportunity assessment, presentation, negotiation with potential customers.Works with Operations to resolve WiFi and mobile access network issues that could impact the business and/or the customer.Develops tools and processes for RF feature development, RF design, deployment and operational support for WiFi and mobile access network.Responsible for new technology development and validation to include: studying new technology trends, formulating impact statement of such technologies on Charter's wireless technology strategy and services offering, validating the capabilities of such technologies through lab evaluation and possibly field trials.Develops a long-term technology evolution roadmap (3-5 years) articulating the strategic decision points, technology evolution plan and recommendations with regard to technology and network infrastructure investments. Performs lab evaluation and field trials to validate new technology concepts for mobile devices and SIMs.Supports Charters' mobile strategy with technology expertise to assess the feasibility of new business opportunities such as home automation, Assessment of 5G technology impact on HSD business in the long-term, Impact assessment of Next Generation Wireless Technologies Video Compression technologies on Charter's video distribution business.Intellectual Property creation, patent filing and promotion of such IP through the contribution to relevant standards and industry forums.Monitors, detects, and remediates mobile handset related issues using 4G and 5G solutions.Develops Carrier grade solutions and supports new initiatives related to WiFi, 5G Hotspot 2.0, and other mobile roaming efforts on the mobile handsetDrives new innovative technologies and approaches for increasing the performance, reliability, and QoE (Quality of Experience) for customers, while driving down the device cost.Supports other initiatives that may include improving network security, virus detection, and virtualization of network functions, along with new applications running on the Mobile Device to support new services that Product may request.Supports new wireless technologies for IoT activities to possibly include: 5G SA, 802.11ax, WiFi6e, DSDS, Bluetooth, 802.11ah, etc.Supports efforts related to MPTCP and CableLabs initiatives of interest.Produces detailed time line for each product release and implements effective project control by monitoring the progress of the firmware releases and reporting the status.Reviews all designs, code and unit test plans where applicable.Reviews and assess all business requirements prior to the technical solution development.Provides recommendation to product development organization with the objective of optimizing cost, reducing complexity and improving user experience.Participates on all hardware and software evaluations and maintain vendor contracts.REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONSSkills/Abilities and KnowledgeDeep knowledge in wireless access technologies including WiFi, 4G-LTE, 5G and a clear track record of excellence managing the wireless access engineering systems within an organization of a well-known media brand.Hands-on experience with a broad range of wireless access technologies including WiFi, 4G-LTE and IoT as well as competency with key networking elements such as routing, switching, and security.Ability to lead complex projects working with a matrix team of engineers at junior and senior levels across the different Engineering Organizations.Strong technology expertise, proven leadership skills, excellent written and oral communication skills, superb technical skills, and a strong customer-service orientation.Operational experience with WiFi, 4G-LTE and 5GAbility to communicate with all levels of managementAbility to manage and deliver against several initiatives simultaneouslyAbility to prioritize and organize effectivelyAbility to make decisions and solve problems while working under pressureAbility to communicate effectively orally and electronicallyDemonstrated project management experienceEducationBSEE in Electrical/Computer Engineering or equivalent; MBA preferred.Related Work Experience Number of YearsTechnology Development & Management 10+Technology management experience working with the top 5-7MSOs, Telco, satellite operators or major wireless vendor in the U.S.PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONSSkills /Abilities and KnowledgeManagement experience Some management experience preferredQualcomm ChipsetQXDM/Accuver log analysisSIM developmentSamsung/Apple Handset DevelopmentWORKING CONDITIONSOffice environment EWI601 276592 276592BR Here, employees don't just have jobs, they build careers.
