We investigate, select, develop, and integrate technologies and solutions that meet the needs of the company for short, medium and long term initiatives. This includes the delivery of the technology plan and future architecture for Voice, Video, Data, Optical, Commercial, Cloud, CPE, Network and Access.

JOB SUMMARY Responsible for designing, planning and implementing a web service infrastructure to support Charter's next generation products with the focus for IP video. This position will assist Charter's transition to Internet delivered content, featured cloud based services, highly interactive HTML5, and native UI's across a variety of consumer electronics devices and set top boxes.

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Actively and consistently support all efforts to simplify and enhance the customer experience.Develop, design and create architecture documents for new IP video streaming technology through collaboration with team members and cross functional teams. Cross functional teams include Product, Software Engineering, System Integration and Test, technology solution vendors and operations.Work with team members and potential vendors to build lab environment to validate technology concepts and features through Proof of Concepts. Tasks include test case creation, execution, documentation of test results along with results analysis. Provide engineering and technology improvement recommendations based on test results. Create step-by-step, succinct MOP needed to implement new technology into ProductionEvaluate new IP video streaming format standards and make recommendations to further improve bandwidth efficiency without sacrificing video qualityAssist in troubleshooting in production as issues arise. Tasks include learning existing production workflow and video components, work with operation teams and solution vendor to conduct root cause analysis and propose resolution to mitigate issues that are foundOther duties as assigned

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONSSkills/Abilities and Knowledge -Knowledgable in video encoding, transcoding and processing-Understand the different IP video streaming formats (DASH/HLS/HSS)-Familiar with industry standards (i.e. DASH-IF, SCTE, etc.)-Working knowledge of just-in-time packagers from various vendors-High level understanding of IP video workflow from content ingest to delivery onto customer's client devicePlayer Related Requirements: -Experience working with Media Source Extensions, Encrypted Media Extensions, MediaCapabilities-Experience working with web players like hls.js, Shaka Player, dash.js etc-Working familiarity with C-Working knowledge on Apple and Android native players EXO and AVPlayer is a bonus.

General Requirements:-Ability to collaborate and work with cross functional teams under pressure-Work independently to build test setup, evaluate new products/technology and create technology evaluation report to highlight pros and cons of the product/technology -Highly self-motivated to learn new technology as it applies to the job-Ability to work on multiple projects effectively and efficiently-Methodical troubleshooting skills -Good verbal and written communication skills to discuss, share and present technical information across different teams

EducationBachelor's degree or equivalent experience required.

Related Work Experience / Number of YearsVideo encoding and processing, OTT IP video streaming / 7-10

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONSSkills/Abilities and Knowledge -Knowledge of different Digital Rights Management technologies-Experience with cloud computing (AWS, Azure), container technologies (i.e. Kubernetes), building elastic and scalable system a plus-Experience with web technologies: HTML/Javascript, HTTP, JSON, XML, Web Services/REST API-Experience in open-source multimedia projects (x264, x265, and FFMPEG, etc.)-Understanding of various video and audio codecs such as AVC, HEVC, AAC, E-AC3 with emphasis on video/audio quality-Familiarity with enterprise MPEG Analysis tools, such as Tektronix, Elecard, etc-Experience with various scripting tools such as Bash, Python-Experience with CHALK, JIRA ticket system-Familiar with SAFe (Scaled Agile Framework)
