Please review the job details below.Maxar is seeking a Senior Project Manager to join our Space Programs Delivery team in Westminster, CO or Palo Alto/San Jose, CA. This role reports into the Senior Director of Large Solutions and provides organizational leadership and execution ownership throughout a program or project following the Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe). In this role, you will be responsible for successful implementation of portions of large program scope that have a direct impact on cost, revenue and innovation for the company. The ideal candidate is a growing leader that drives through planning and execution while also managing risks, issues and changes.As our satellite systems span multiple areas of technical expertise, this role requires collaboration and clear communication, both written and verbal. The scope of deliverables includes but is not limited to: project schedule, project status, management of financials and spend against budgets, management/tracking of risks, issues, dependencies, and change/decision logs. Creative problem solving while working well with stakeholders and core team members is required.The role drives accountability and results by working with and relying on experts to progress the work. The role collaborates closely with many stakeholder groups: software and hardware engineering functional leads, architects, SMEs, development/test teams, Solution Engineers, program management, and Assembly/Integration & Test (AIT). Significant coordination and collaboration is necessary between this Sr. Manager and other Project Managers on the program to ensure cohesive overall program schedules, deliverables, dependencies, and budgets.What you'll do day-to-day

  • Provide e nd-to-end project leadership from conceptualization through planning to satellite launch
  • Manage the solution's functional and compliance requirements, maintain the solution roadmap, and define and prioritize the work
  • Coordinate with Agile Release Trains, including Assembly, Integration, & Test (AIT) & non-Agile Engineering departments, and vendors/suppliers as needed to create work packages, prioritize work, manage dependencies, and schedule work to meet overall program needs.
  • Define and track business and engineering milestones in a schedule
  • Track and communicate dependencies of engineering milestones & releases
  • Manage and execute projects by leveraging project management playbook, project lifecycle, resources, tools, and templates
  • Manage Program EAC by developing & working alternatives with engineering departments
  • Leverages stakeholder relationships and technical expertise to enable or make key decisions
  • Identify strategic milestones in concert with business and/or mission stakeholders and tie work packages to milestones
  • Work with Solution Engineers & development teams to ensure understanding of high-level business requirements so that they are well positioned to deliver the appropriate business value
  • Ensure the Solution Engineers, Project Managers & Solution Train Engineers are properly engaging with the Subsystem Engineering teams (HW & SW) early enough in the program to preclude surprises later in the program.
  • Make recommendations to Senior Director, Large Solution Layer for adapting Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) principles to meet Maxar Space's unique business needs.
  • Help leaders create a culture of ownership, accountability, and crisp execution towards goals
  • Works under and with Senior Director, Large Solution Layer for mentoring and guidance
  • In the short term, leverage modern internal and external communication tools such as Zoom & Slack to onboard and achieve your organization's success from your home office
  • When conditions allow, be able to travel as necessary to ensure team cohesion & program success.
Minimum Requirements:
  • Must be a U.S. citizen and be willing and able to obtain a TS/SCI security clearance.
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, business, management, or a related field
  • 5+ years' of relevant experience, with at least 2 years' experience in aerospace, telecommunications, or technology industries (A Masters degree may be count for 2 years of experience)
  • Prior experience with product development and development teams in a complex technical environment
  • Familiarity with hardware & software development practices, systems engineering, and various methodologies (Scaled Agile Framework preferred: SAFe, and Waterfall experience is beneficial as well)
Preferred Qualifications
  • Current/active TS/SCI clearance
  • Mastery of project management principles, methodologies, and techniques across various types of stakeholders and team members
  • Strong executive-level, written, and verbal communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • High sense of ownership & commitment to program execution success
  • Natural bias and ability to drive complex programs in a matrixed environment while maintaining key business relationships and positively impacting team culture
  • Skilled in partnering with technical and non-technical stakeholders at all levels in the organization
  • Ability to pursue and resolve issues independently and escalating when necessary
  • Demonstrated attention to detail and follow-through
  • Excellent collaboration skills; high-energy and can-do attitude
  • PMP certification
  • Government contracting experience
  • Discrete organizational change management experience
  • Previous experience in classified environments
For the Colorado area, the compensation range for this position is $79,500.00 - $132,500.00 USD annually, dependent on skills and experience.
