Job Description

The City of Pueblo is taking applications for the Director of Public Affairs! The position works to improve public administration, while making City actions more open and promoting accountability to the public. As a member of the Mayor’s leadership team, the ideal candidate collaborates with City leaders to develop and implement communication strategies to broaden the impact of City programs and oversees organizational messaging and constituent services. Identifies, develops, and publishes news releases related to City activities, events, and programs. Leads the development of broadcast media and social media for the City’s website and external media outlets. Assists City departments with the development of press releases, public service announcements, and other governmental and community access channel programming needs. Serves as the ombudsman for the City, working with individuals/groups to explore options and assist with conflict resolution, problematic issues, or concerns and bringing systemic concerns to the attention of the Mayor and City leadership.

To be considered for this position, the ideal candidate must possess a valid driver’s license, a bachelor’s degree in mass communications, journalism, public administration, or a closely related field as well having five years of professional experience.

This full-time position offers the successful candidate a variety of benefits that provide a great work/life balance, a rewarding work environment, and a competitive annual salary of $69,999.96-$84,999.96.
