Job Description

Our team maintains and analyses Wood Mackenzie’s vast public and proprietary datasets to research trends and construct narratives using supporting data. You’ll collaborate closely with some of the industry’s leading subject matter experts to deliver the insights that move markets, and you’ll work with top-tier product and technical teams to deliver the data driving those insights.

In this position, you will be responsible for managing a team of market and data analysts to maintain data quality and improve the depth of our analytics and models. The team works closely with our data collection group to ensure accurate, timely, and complete data delivery to our customers. You’ll also oversee our daily market analysis report focusing on short term supply and demand fundamentals and the impacts on price at a detailed regional level.

You should be detail-oriented, intellectually curious, commercially savvy, and comfortable presenting to senior leadership and clients.

The level of appointment to which band on the company banding structure will be dependent on your skills, experience and capabilities demonstrated at assessment prior to offer of employment.

Qualifications

To be successful in this position, you should have a solid understanding of commodity market fundamentals, but also a keen eye for data, a focus on quality, and a never-ending drive to improve product output and process efficiency.

You have experience leading a productive team, effectively motivating and mentoring teammates to achieve positive results. You are also adept at managing multiple competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.

In addition, it would be advantageous for any potential candidate to have:

  • 3+ years’ experience in natural gas market analysis, operations, or intelligence
  • Experience with modern data processing and analytics including SQL, ETL applications, and data visualization
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • 2+ years’ experience as a team or people manager
  • Experience with Agile project management
  • Knowledge of the mechanics and participants of natural gas markets
  • Familiarity with an object-oriented programing language like Python
  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree, preferably with a quantitative focus (statistics, economics, computer science, or related)

Expected salary range for this position: $70k to $85k base
